For the last several days this PC I am on now has experienced browser locking up. It has happened in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Brave.

Just the browser, not the PC. I can do other things and eventually (5-10 minutes) the browser will work for a few minutes and lock up again.

Any ideas?

You could try ADW Cleaner to see if there is any funny stuff going on. It's free and available here https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/

Tried it. Found one minor "pup" file that I quarantined.

Afterward Chrome/Edge/Brave all locked up as usual in just a couple of minutes. Firefox is working for now.

Have you tried clearing Browser cache and Win temp folders?

I've cleared everything. Ran Ccleaner, Glary both. Firefox works, Chrome etc. still freeze within minutes.

Read good things about Vivaldi browser. Downloaded and installed, ran fine for a little while but it too locked up.

I'm thinking about wiping the HD and starting over.

That's an odd problem. I assume that it's not some extension that's gone awry?

A clean re-install is a pain (doing one right now) but might be your only alternative.

Before you do anything too outrageous, I think I'd consider checking for an updated Ethernet adapter and/or uninstalling/reinstalling current driver, and also resetting the TCP/IP stack smile May not help but won't hurt (and nowhere near as painful as reloading Windows/everything else).

Some instructions, good as any I've seen: >link<

I think I'd also consider testing the network adapter, but that's a little more involved...

BTW please tell me this isn't a wireless adapter... biggrin biggrin biggrin

I believe that F4U is on 'holiday' for 2 weeks so he won't be replying until the 19th or thereabouts.
