In one of the "weapons.str" files I saw this in slots 22-29:

50CAL_GUNPOD
20MM_TWIN_GUNPOD
30MM_GUNPOD1
37MM_GUNPOD1
75MM_GUNPOD
20MM_GUNPOD
30MM_GUNPOD
37MM_GUNPOD

We have data for the 20MM_GUNPOD, 30MM_GUNPOD, and the 37MM_GUNPOD.
This data includes the 3dz graphics and the referenced TPC files, and we are using them in offline and online games smile

However, I have nothing for the 50CAL_GUNPOD, the 20MM_TWIN_GUNPOD, or the 75MM_GUNPOD.

Does anyone recall seeing these in a game, and if so where are they?

They sound useful for a tank-busting planeset smile

Yeah, we never did solidify how the add-on gunpods worked, so, instead I took a different route and build specific aircraft models with the gunpods as part of the package.

If you look in the aircraft _inventory you will see what I mean. For instance there is a Tempest 2(P) which had two 40mm gunpods. The pods are assigned with hardcode D.3dz (30) so they load with the plane not as a separate choice.

You could look at the flight model for that specific plane to get an idea about the ballistics I used.

You could also look at the PBJ-1H which mounts a 75mm cannon to get an idea on the ballistics for the big gun.

I will say that players should keep this in mind when setting up their lists because you could end up with a plane carrying the "built-in" gun pods AND the "add-on" ones too.

it was well known how the gunpods work. In EAW1.28e they could get enabled and dissabled in the loadout screen. Its a normal loadout, to get them shooting, the correlated guns must be available in the flightfiles (*.flt and planes.dat). Then they get triggered with the selection of the gunpod as loadout.

This did work for the German gunpods (Ju87D, Bf109 and FW190A) but also on the Mig3 and would work on any other plane. Of course the needed gunpod must be available as loadout.

So if there was a allied 40mm gunpod, it could get added.

Interesting.

I wonder if that mod got lost when the 1.4/1.5/1.6 development line came to be because I seem to recall trying to get it to work without success.
