Anyone in the EA? How's it play? Steam comments are positive, and it looks fantastic. Recently I kicked around picking up Star Wars Squadrons. Seemed like it would be fun to play an arcade space shooter, but I didn't pull the trigger. Everspace 2 looks like it could be a lot of fun too, giving me some good first-person space combat, in what seems a more expansive game than Squadrons. It's called a looter shooter, which of course makes me think of Borderlands and the like. Not sure how it plays really. But I'm considering picking it up. Never done EA so might wait for release? Bah, who knows https://store.steampowered.com/app/1128920/EVERSPACE_2/

I am very curious about this game! No track IR support yet, but they say it is coming. I played some more Rebel Galaxy Outlaw last night, which is probably similar, Privateer-like. Flaws aside, lots of fun. Only wish there was an FOV setting, head tracking, and a way to remove HOTAS deadzone.

No Track IR? I'm sure I read it was in. Maybe just planned then? I won't buy it without it I don't think.

Star Wars Squadrons is ok but there are still some show stopping mission bugs reported with no acknowledgement of any fixes. I got caught by one which doesn't let one of the missions complete and I cannot progress. Left it alone for awhile. Probably need to restart the entire mission.

I played Everspace some time ago and it was fun, Everspace 2 seems to go in that same direction but with added chrome. Iam waiting for it to go on sale, personally I can´t justify it´s price for a EA game. I mean, after all it´s in EA so how can you ask the price of a full release game? Same goes with Baldur´s Gate 3, it´s in EA and there asking circa 50 bucks! No, no...

For anyone thinking about buying Everspace 2, I suggest watching Mack's (Worth-A-Buy) YouTube video review, particularly from the seven minute mark on. It saved me from wasting 40 bucks, for now anyway. Maybe these idiotic "asides" will be removed or modified so you can skip them, but if not, I'll pass on it. IMO, these kinds of "mini-games" within a game are, as Mack says, "trash", and often ruin an otherwise fun gaming experience.

Thank you Billy Mitch... I've just watched the video. I don't think I'll be buying this one! WHY!? I'm at work, and no vids, you know? What's the scoop!

Thank you Billy Mitch... I've just watched the video. I don't think I'll be buying this one! WHY!? I'm at work, and no vids, you know? What's the scoop! It's because one minute you are involved in an intense space combat, and then you find you have to sort out some sort of puzzle, using your ship to pick up energy balls to slot into some receptacle that releases something else, which is sometimes a timed event, and then back to your intense combat. Or you may be asked to take part in a race inside a space station or something, and then it's back to space combat. Apparently, the game is full of these puzzles and games that keep popping up. But you have to watch the video review, then you can see all this stuff happening... for me, that's not the space combat game I am looking for.

@DBond, if your looking for a space shooter, give House of the Dying Sun a look, it supports Track IR that I remember.

Good shout Red thanks, hadn't heard of it I don't think, but checked Steam on your recommendation. Videos look good, supports HOTAS and Track IR and good Steam reviews. Full price is just $20, but if I get it I think I'll wait for a sale despite it's low price. Skimming the reviews it seems that even though most players like it, it's really short, with some players finishing all missions within a couple hours. So if it's on sale for $8.99 or something I'll probably pick it up. Thanks for the headsup, I'll put it on the wishlist.

Steam reviews are decidedly more mixed with that one. What do you like about it if you don't mind expanding? It's probably a bad time to be talking about this as I'm back in to Elite, and one can only devote so much time to pretending to be commander of a spaceship.

I started it some time ago but never got back to it (which I should some day). I agree, best to get it on sale, IIRC I got it on sale too. Here´s some timings on game duration... How long is House of the Dying Sun? Red
