Aha, Inspector Clouseau, the French version of Columbo, they (the Fro....French) do manage to screw stuff up, don't they?
Columbo, pretends to be an idiot whereas Clouseau is the real thing but funnier to be sure. smile

No, not the French version...the polar opposite. As you point out, Columbo pretends to be slow but he's always one step ahead of the bad guy, leading him straight into tipping his hand. Clouseau thinks he's the best detective in history but he's a fool for whom fate (and the script) somehow work out.

But Clouseau is far funnier.

This thread has epically gone off the rails!

What rails?
The rails against something or someone?
Those that sometimes keep cars from falling off the road?
There are several rails to speak of, right?

Those that trains usually run late on?
Those "I am cooler than the average rails" monorails?
Monorails are the most annoying type and I must avoid the temptation to rail against them at length
lest I appear to have epically gone off the rails!

You two, PM and von Baur, have indeed opened a can of worms here.
And, while we are here, does anyone know who actually first canned worms and why?
The major consumers of worms are fish and birds and both, with the possible exception of Woody, would have a problem opening a can.

Watching a bird trying to open a can of worms would indeed be, if not actually funny, at least mildly amusing and absurd.
Watching a fish trying would just be boring.

BD-123, thank you, the first two words of the second sentence are appreciated and the fourth and fifth are spot on. smile

On the issue of messiness on the scale of things, I think you are right....if the scale is not in the water.

Also, the degree of messy (percentage, not temperature) would depend on how many of the things on the scale of things are on top of the fish. The size of the fish is a factor too, much easier to make a mess of a minnow than a shark, right?

On a side note, a minnow would be a complete moron (can we still use that word?) to even try to open the can and therefore deserves whatever happens to him.

Back on subject....42.

Ah you say that but the minnow by provocative wriggling lures the Pike to the can and secretes itself behind it. The Pike in it's feeding frenzy punctures the can, swims off discouraged with sore gums, and the minnow then feasts on the worms at it's leisure.

Clever little buggers, your minnows, so they are.

Same here KRT_Bong, it might be time to hit your namesake.

OK, BD-123, nice diversion, conjuring a pike, from who knows where and tossing it onto the scale of things!

BTW, did the Pike, in it's feeding frenzy, puncture the can in a failed attempt to eat the minnow or was it
actually going for the worms?
I guess the question sort of answers itself, I forgot the minnow was hiding.

The minnow would probably not feast on the worms, although it might feast on half a worm or one whole one if it is not too big. You see, minnows tend to be quite small.

I must also clarify something, I do not own any minnows and this discussion only concerns the possible direction one minnows fate takes.

Did you know that many minnows end up as Freeze-Dried Cat Treats?
It's true, I read it on the internet.
