Hallo all,

As you can read in the title I think about a typical analog clock-gauge in the HUD (F5).
Why?
Early aeroplanes haven't had a clock in the cockpit, but the pilots did wear it. It was necessary because of fuel, waypoints, … .
And about a gauge in the HUD (instead of climb rate in my opinion) you can simulate the fast look at the clock (F5) and look forward then again.
And you can switch of the less historical digital blue HUD upper left corner (Z-Button), I use it only for time and FPS-Check.

I'm not a modder, so my questions are:
Is it possible?
Is it a good and interesting idea for one modder of you? What do you think?

I don't know if new gauges are possible (not a modder); but I'd also like to see the tach available (I just turned off the auto-mixture). It would be really cool if any of a plane's cockpit gauges are available.

Yes @mandrews.
To say it more detailed: My idea was, to see gauges in the HUD, which are not in the cockpit but at the pilot (see above: clock gauge at early aeroplanes) and to see gauges, which are in the cockpit but difficult viewable because they are not in the FOV. F.e. some german aeroplanes have the compass down at the seat.So I fly the albatros only with the compass activated in the HUD (HUD on via F5 - fast look at the Compass - Hud out via F5) at the moment. An airspeed-indicator or an altitude-display I turn on in the HUD, when I fly an aeroplane, which has these gauges in the cockpit and when it is difficult to see them, not earlier.

Climb-Rate and … (what was the fifth? Artifical horizon? I'm not sure at the moment) are more typical for WW2. So it would be nice in my opinion to change them with more WW1-typical indicators (a clock f.e. and a RPM-gauge maybe). With Albatros I don't need a RPM-Indicator, because it is very good viewable, but in other aeroplanes I would activate it in the HUD.

But the most important question: Is it ipossible?

There used to be an artificial horizon/climb rate indicator which was quite handy when you got into a dogfight and ended up in a cloud, not knowing if you were going up or down, level or not.

Hallo @Burning-Beard,
I understand what you mean.
But my idea is not a HUD for GAME-setting, but more a HUD-development with a little bit more WW1-typical gauges (see above).
