I assume most of us here are familiar with the Giza Plateau in Egypt? If not, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giza_PlateauAnyway, I was playing around with Google Maps today and discovered that there is a popular McDonald's restaurant located only 2 miles from the iconic pyramids. I wonder what the ancient pharos would think about this? https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaur...ws-McDonald_s-Giza_Giza_Governorate.html

The Ancient Pharaohs would wonder what idiot built it so far away that it would take a chariot ride to get a big mac and large fries, then have the guy killed. Edit: I just checked the trip advisor picture, unfortunately for the guys cat, The Ancient Pharaohs would also get miffed because the menu is in a foreign language.

Well it could be as safe a bet that the McDonalds will be long gone in time and the Pyramids will still be there..

(Oops, wrong thread! Dam, getting old is a bi tch!) Yeah man, but so far it still beats the alternative.

Well, Nixer, it sort of depends on which alternative you mean.
If I pick the getting young is a bit ch one, I am an idiot, (a condition TRB says applies no matter my decision) because getting young is not a bi tch....well as long as I stopped getting young before dying of young age.
If I pick the getting dead is a bi tch one, I would be right. (a condition TRB says could not possibly ever apply.)
Since we have got a bit off topic, (Ancient Pharaohs, I think it was.) let's see if we can get back on.
Mr. PanzerMeyer, could you please clarify something for us?
When you wrote "ancient pharos" did you refer to those Pharaohs who were really, really old or just any Pharaoh from way way way back in time? I only ask because, what they thought would probably differ based on their age.
Does anyone wonder what the Sphynx thinks about the whole thing or is he still busy being mad at those Turkish guys for the botched nose job?
FOOTNOTE: I must, in case anyone thinks I have lost it, confirm their suspicions, but it beats some alternatives, eh?
OK, in case anyone is wondering, TRB is what I thought I was on Dec. 1,1967. But, on Dec. 2, 1967, reality struck and I learned the absolute delusion I had been living. Some who have gone through a similar awakening refer to it as discovering SWMBO.

OK, thanks. I thought the Romans got there first, oh well, learn something new every day, too bad I will probably forget it before dinner. You forgot about a little someone (literally!) named Alexander the Great.

Anyhow, how little was he? Based on what I've read most historians seem to agree that he was between 5"0 and 5"1.

vonBaur, What archer or is it a who Archer? Are we talking about a bowman's (those guys who shoot arrows) voice, or that mama's boy secret agent? (it may also have been an intentional use of the phrase.)
MarkG , good one except your pictorial might not match the poem above it.
I think the poet is referring to Las Vegas, NV, so more appropriate pictures would be of Jackrabbits, (do they live in holes?) or sand mounds under which "relocated" mobsters reside and long, straight highways.
The Egyptian chick holding a pacifier(that baby must be a real porker!) is cool though and the one holding the cobra harp brings to mind the mamas boy secret agent go to word, "Phrasing" " Archer ". "You wanna play me hard?"
EDIT: Thanks for the info PM, you saved me from a trip to DDG and a possible tumble into yet another RH.

I have been my own boss since 1982...well a few wannabes since then.
I may have mucked it up a bit since I took control again, but heck, it sure has been fun doing it.

"Just the tip."?
Of what, or of where? A finger, (or possibly another body part) a Continent?( that thing Magellan sailed around the "tip" of way back when)
This discussion is getting confusing but still concerns "Our funny and absurd world", therefore must continue. It has, for me at least, resulted in several trips to the edge of some, probably, very deep rabbit holes which I have skillfully avoided. (usually the ones I fall into are cat or Eastern European car crash videos.)
Oh!....it is another Archerism! Well, I may be slow but I am not stopped, eh? (I try but cannot, on occasion, avoid the "eh" (Canadian "eh?", not the old, hard of hearing guy "EH?", TRB had a French Canadian in the woodpile somewhere or when.) The Weekend, the real one, not that wannabe singer who could not come up with an actually cool name, is upon us, (Phrasing?) so let's see if we can figure out just how "Down the Rabbit Hole" beat out "Down the Gopher Hole" or "Down the Meercat Hole" for use as a reference to losing a lot of time over a given subject. I blame Jefferson Airplane, they told everyone to "Go ask Alice"....

Are we talking about a bowman's (those guys who shoot arrows) voice, or that mama's boy secret agent? I suspect you knew the answer to that before you asked. Also, while I won't dispute the "mama's boy secret agent" characterization I prefer to think of him as an Inspector Clouseau wannabe, confusing his incredible luck for competence.
SALUTE TO ALL!
