We need a shooters forum or something. I'm never sure where to put these topics.

Anyone following Stalker 2? They released a new teaser trailer a couple weeks ago. I'm ready to return to the Zone

A couple short vids

https://www.polygon.com/2021/1/4/22213206/stalker-2-first-person-trailer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NuPJmiQh-A

Scheduled for release sometime this year, but we all know how that goes.

Yeah man. There's hardly anything there in these vids but they get me pumped all the same. I really hope this sees the light of day and is also good!

SSOC is in my top 3 games of all time. This is the first time I've been legitimately excited for a game release in over a decade.

For those readers who cannot read whatever that is, I will translate

"Get out of here, Stalker"

Thank you for the heads up DBond.

Looking forward to this one.
Which one is regarded the best in the series?
I have both on Steam and might go back for some sessions.

That's a very interesting question. I think most players would fall either on the side of Shadow of Chernobyl or Call of Pripyat, even though Clear Sky was a good game too, but it suffered a bit because it was a time when that X Ray engine was really taxing our PCs. It didn't run that well for a lot of players when it first came out.

For me I'm not sure. It's been a long time since I played vanilla Stalker.

My favorites are the Misery mod for CoP and the Autumn Aurora conversion for SoC, both of which mod Stalker to be more like I want. More of a survival game, bleaker, darker. Vanilla Stalker is good, but it's not a survival game really, even if it might seem that way. But there are many mods that make it that way if that's your bag.

I think if I were to recommend one to a player new to the series I'd say CoP. But SoC is where many of us started and it holds a special place. What an experience it was at the time!

Oh, sorry. I forgot about Clear Sky.
I might have it on a DVD, but then it`s burried deep down with really old stuff somewhere.
It`s on sale on Steam so I might buy it.

With reagards to mods, I seldom use them.
I am a lazy guy in that way. At least in these type of games.

I also enjoyed SoC a lot. It seems like many years ago now so I might give it a go.

Yeah I get it. But if you decide to check any mods out for SoC, this is the one I like

Autumn Aurora 2 for SoC

Thanks for the link DBond.

Looks interesting so I`ll give it a go.

I see it has a setup.exe in there. Will it find my Steam version automatically?

Sorry mate, it's been too long. But yeah I reckon it will. If not just point the installer.

One advantage of using this mod (among others) is it incorporates the community bugfix and your run should be less hassle than straight vanilla. It's mostly graphics, weather, sounds, but does add weapons and more. It changes the aesthetic but without changing the core gameplay much, while squashing bugs and improving the experience, in my view. But there are a ton of mods of SoC and each player is going to have his favorites.

I just hope they've taken some inspiration from Tarkov as far as the gun mechanics, weapons mods and inventory management goes.

You'd think that would be a no-brainer, but today's Millennial driven games often seem to exhibit all kinds of puzzling design decisions.

Wow, what a great deal Troop. Which one first? Any mods?

I'm not too familiar with Tarkov, but I predict Stalker 2 will have plenty of jank smile

I'll take a look at the mod side of things later tonight mate, and yes, it was too good a deal to pass up!
Not sure what I'll start with, but probably C.O.P. Had a go at that years ago smile
