Press F6 and you should be in a view mode where you're aiming down the sight. Press F6 again to return to the centered view.
MACHINE GUN FIRE: CAMBRIN by ROBERT GRAVES (September 25 1915)
The torn line wavers, breaks, and falls. 'Get up, come on!' the captain calls 'Get up, the Welsh, and on we go!' (Christ, that my lads should fail me so!) A dying boy grinned up and said: 'The whole damned company, sir; it's dead.' 'Come on! Cowards!' bawled the captain, then Fell killed, among his writhing men.

The gun has a convergence built in to hit the target at a given distance, so it you are to close it hits to the right, to far away it will hit to the left. If you want to use the sights on the gun hit the F6 as explained above. It is the same as the gun on the top wing of a Nieuport or SE5 and even to a worse effect the guns on a N28c. When you have two guns (directly in front of the pilot) they will converge at a given distance like on the WWII planes.

@OP, The off-center view sometimes also shows up if you try the padlock lock-on while you are in the "F6" view, for example, and then go back to default centered view directly from padlock. This situation requires getting back into the F6 view once more, re-centering to default cockpit view again, doing the padlock view again, and then once more re-centering to default cockpit view. A bit of experimentation may be needed but such toggles have never failed to reset me to perfectly centered cockpit view. (Comments above relevant to the Fokk. E.II but will probably work the same way for the E.I and E.III.) In short: F6+padlock+default cockpit view --- sometimes creates this off-center view Possible solution: F6+default cockpit view+padlock+default cockpit view Von S

Doesn't the sim automatically start in the view you were in when you left the previous session?

Doesn't the sim automatically start in the view you were in when you left the previous session? Yes, and it's off center.
