This looks POOPY. The first POOP movie of 2021. I read many reviews just now and it's full of Men are women haters and the girl is woman power and only woman power can win the war. Total BS. No respect for everyone who sacrificed during WW2. Now on streaming VOD.
Also what year of WW2 is this set in? The B-17 was no longer used for Combat and Bombing missions in the Pacific theater by mid-1943.
I learned new things today.
A B-17 flying at 8000 feet, I don't know the airspeed but it's evading 3 Japanese Zekes. The girl in the belly gun can climb out and stick move around underneath the plane's body and wing without any places to get a foot or hand hold.
She has SPIDERMAN super powers you see because she is a girl, from an earlier scene, many times she said she is a flight officer with the Women Auxiliary Air Force and she has 200 hours of flying solo.
Also from an earlier scene, all the men on that B-17 are pigs, calling her sexual degrading words and making sexual advances at her and she shot them all down because she said she is stronger than any of those men because she is 99% Lesbian.
So that makes her better than every men in the crew of that B-17. Men who have been flying combat mission since 1941, who have more flight training and combat experience than she has.
Finally every one of the B-17 crew is White but the co-pilot who is Black but it's okay, he is not with the US Army Air Corps, he is on loan from New Zealand Air Force. I assume the NZAF in 1943 is desegregated?
Also this was set in mid 1943 but by then, B-17s no longer flew combat mission in the Pacific. The B-17 in this movie is flying from a New Zealand air base to island they didn't say which one in the Pacific.
They had a list of dumb things when they wrote this movie (written and directed by women who are probably very angry and bitter toward men in their real life) and they made sure every item on that dumb things list is covered.
The belly gun shot away by the Japanese planes. She is still working around underneath the plane and trying to get into the plane through the hole where the belly gun was. She loses her grip, falls on a top of a Japanese plane in flame and it explodes and the explosion throws her upward into the plane through the belly gun hole. She is very lucky cause she is a woman.
It gets worse. There is a monster on board. They call it Gremlin. Everyone is dead except for 2 crew and the Black co-pilot who is seriously injured. Japanese planes are still attacking them.
She shoots the Gremlin, gets on the tail gun and shoots down the Japanese planes, then she gets in the pilot seat and give orders to the co-pilot who helps her lands the plane, that she turn upside down because it was stuck in a nosedive and not responding. Then after landing the Gremlin reappears and she fights it off to save her and the surviving crew, who stand around and watch her without helping because you know, they are useless men.
After she kill the Gremlin without help from the useless men, she breast feeds her baby. Yes, her baby. There is a baby. Don't ask. The 3 surviving men watch her thinking either breastfeeding is something only a strong woman can do, we men can't do that or I wish I was in the baby's place.
Then the wreckage of the crashed B-17 explodes in a big fireball, The offensive and degrading picture of the exploited woman painted on the nose of the plane is burned off. More hint of Girl Power and how men objectify women. Definitely angry bitter women wrote this movie.
I put the same thing in another forum and got an infraction for discriminating against people based on race color sexual orientation religion. I am not the one who put that agenda in the movie. I am also reviewing the (BAD) movie so others won't waste time and money on it.

You DO realize NFB that this movie is supposed to be taken very tongue in cheek right? Are you incapable of nuance?

My point is that this film was quite obviously made with the intent to be campy, cheesy and tongue in cheek but you review it as if you were an Ivy League college professor reviewing a high brow foreign film.

So it seems you are agreeing with my point or you simply can’t find a valid way to refute it.

Not agreeing with ya. Pointing out you use the same words for every movies I review: campy, tongue in cheek, cheesy or trolling. You be like broken record. But there is hope for ya cos you have added nuance. Good for ya! Your vocabulary is expanding. Enjoy the new year.

You really are odd and trust me, I'm one of many here on SimHQ who think that.

I finally decided to utilize the ignore option a few days ago. I think he's play a role, creating a caricature for some reason. Either that or he truly is a very odd person.

Bad enough billions of folks have to deal with the Coronavirus and have lives ruined and disrupted. Now that's a theme to movies too. I can count 2 dozen movies in last few months with characters in those films fighting to survive a virus.
people who make movies with virus as the plot and using it to make a few bucks should be ashamed of themselves.

I guess you're not a fan of Dune, James Bond or Top Gun.

New James Bond will suck. I watch the Impossible films because I like the films and not for that crazy wanker. I don't care for Dune. Then the comics movies, no one cares no more! They put out so many so quickly people are burned out.

The box office numbers (pre-COVID of course) don't back up your statement. And in this streaming age we are now in, comic book movies are still streamed in huge numbers. Just take a look at how many viewers streamed WW84. Audiences are not fatigued with comic book films by any means.
