Cool. I did not know they were making another B-17 sim. I loved playing The Mighty Eighth.

Hopefully this will be a fairly realistic sim and not "arcadey".

No Halifaxs? Halifax does not get a fair memory in World War 2 history. Lancaster is the only 4 propellers RAF bomber that people remember doing daylight raids in Germany and German occupied Europe. Halifaxs did the same job as the Lancaster, B-17 and B-24. 6176 Halifaxs were made. Halifaxs were here at the first 1000 RAF bomber raid https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Cologne_in_World_War_II#First_1.2C000_bomber_raid

This game will be a sequel to B-17 II which was also made by Microprose which I believe came out in 2000. It's a study sim of the B-17 so why would it have a Halifax in it?

And besides, nothing is stopping a developer from making a Halifax study sim. One hasn't been made because there is not enough interest on the part of developers.

This would be like someone asking and complaining about why didn't Falcon 4.0 have any F/18's or F-14's in it.

But it has Lancastere in it because Lancasters took part in Eight Air Force raids . If they can include Lancasters, they should also include Halifax because Halifax also did take part in Eight Air Force raids. Their bombing missions over Germany and Nazi occupied Europe was not only limited to RAF Bomber Command mission.

If you look in here it also says in here, straight from the mouths of the aviators who served in both Eight Air Force and RAF Bomber Command

None of the Microprose games have a flyable Lancaster in it so what exactly are you referring to?

Slightly off topic. I grew up on Canadian Military Bases. As a teen there was an arcade/pool hall called the Lancaster Club.
"Meet me at the Lang".

Sorry, nostalgia time for me. Back on topic.

I was not into sims when Microprose was in their prime. I didn't get a PC until 2003. I really hope they deliver and meet the hardcore simmers expectations.
It would be exciting to have a resurgence of great sims. B-117 III really has my attention.

No problem and that's an interesting story as well! On a related note I'm sure you know that the second top scoring scout pilot of the Entente during WW1 was a Canadian.

Was it mentioned if the Lancaster will be FLYABLE? It's a 25 minute video so I don't have time to watch the whole thing right now.

Interesting, very interesting if it's 'not arcadey'

my TLDR(w) on the video- Microprose has coopted another developers project which was to be a flyable Lancaster VR capable, 3 position coop, with an intention to add more flyable RAF bombers (incl Halifax) somewhere down the line.
Microprose 'partnering' should ad flyable B17 and B24.
Wait for the official announcement, and don't hold your breath on release date.

Gotta say 4 engine multi position AC is not an easy option

Yup. There have been many proposed games from the past which ended up being permanent vaporware.

Three Canadian were in the Top 10 list of WW1 aces. Bishop, Collishaw, Maclaren.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

How about Short Stirlings then? Probably even less remembered & no complete survivors.

That must be Billy Bishop. One of the gyms on base is named after him. I currently live 10 mins from the base. I was a member of the gym there until Covid shut it out to civilians.

Two Canadians were involved in the shooting down and death of von Richthofen. One by the name of Brown lived 30 miles from where I live. The other, the object of the Baron's attack, became the famous bush pilot WOP May.
