Playing through the original Max Payne. The evil political woman character looks familiar. No ?

I just purchased Death Stranding on Epic. 50% off plus a £10 voucher = £ 17.49.

I had been playing a ahoy version to 'test' it and decided it was a worthy purchase at that price.

Pity there are so few games that offer a demo nowadays.

What is the premise of Death Stranding? Is it an RPG?

“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”

It's a delivery simulator biggrin (apparently). You play a courier.

I'm only at a very early stage but it's got excellent graphics/sound/music and so far an interesting story with excellent cut-scenes.

As to the question is it an RPG - It's touted as a 'genre-defying experience' so make of that what you will.

You play in 3rd person (although you can enter a 1st person mode). You need to rebuild the United States following a cataclysmic event which caused destructive creatures to begin roaming the Earth.

Starring Norman Reedus,Mads Mikkelsen,Lindsay Wagner and Lea Seydoux to name a few. Oh,yeah and Guillermo del Toro.

The first reviews put me off hence the reluctance to initially purchase it but I think it'll be a good time-sink over Christmas.

Thanks for that info! Ok so it sounds like a post-apocalyptic survival story-driven game.

Hideo Kojima's games are always a bit strange.

I'll chime in with my current game but my ulterior motive is to find out if anyone else still plays Jane's F/A-18. Am I the last person on earth playing this sim?

Holy cow! Do you play it heavily modded in any way or does the stock game still run on modern PC's? I bought it back when it was initially released in 2000 but I'm pretty sure I stopped playing it by 2002 or 2003.

WOFF and Naval Action. However, I am thinking of picking up Red Dead Redemption or two 25 yr old females and go dancing.

Re: Jane's F/A-18, not really modded. Just TSH 3.0something. Can't remember the exact version but whatever is in the 1click Updater. For the longest time I ran TSH 4.02 on an old WinXP box that I saved just for this game. Now I'm running it on a retired Win7 box. I switched to Win7 so I could also have Strike Fighters 2 installed and be able to use my HOTAS, Butt Kicker, Track IRs and Thrustmaster MFD's. At some point I'll put IL-2 on it as well. But I really haven't gotten into SF2 yet. I just really like the carrier ops in JF18 and carriers don't seem to be implemented as well in SF2. And I have to admit that I like all the high tech gadgets in the Super Hornet like smart bombs, GPS and lasers. It will be hard to go back to CCIP and dumb bombs.

Oh man, had the past month off from work and the list of games played over the past month or two is a bit longer than usual.

Borderlands 3 -- A few hundred hours overall in to this one now. Played a new main and the first three DLC. Fun game, and better in most ways than BL2, which is saying something.

Super Mega Baseball 3 -- Bought it on the strength of user reviews. It has a cartoon element to it, especially art style, but the underlying baseball sim is pretty darn good. With The Show still console-only, SMB3 might be the best baseball game on PC at the mo.

Outer Worlds -- Good reviews and user comments, but it hasn't clicked for me and I've only sunk six hours or so in to it. Having trouble getting started with this one, which is not to be confused with...

Outer Wilds -- A neat concept and hook, bought it based on glowing reviews. Played a few hours, not quite what I was expecting I think, but has potential. Gotta give it more time. Finally got off the planet and promptly got eaten by a space creature that loomed out of the space fog. Not sure what that thing was?

Cyberpunk -- Finished the game. Good game, but my socks are still on, ya know? Worth my time, but in the end I have to say it wasn't the seminal game I hoped it would be.

Ori and the Blind Forest -- I know right? Not my usual fare. After completing Cyberpunk I was on the hunt for a new game. This may sound strange, but I love luminescence. I love art styles that have neon purples, greens, pinks, blues, yellows, with a bit of a glow about it all. Hard to explain. But I started searching for a game that looked like this. The one I homed in on was the new Ori game, called Will of the Wisp. Great reviews and I almost bought it. But not knowing if I'd actually like it, I pulled the trigger on it's predecessor, Blind Forest. If I don't like it, I saved ten bucks. If I do, then I've played the earlier game and have WotW to look forward to. Jury's still out after a few hours. Kinda cool, but yet to see the amazing story elements it's renowned for. Still early. But it does scratch that art style itch and the platforming and puzzles are fun.

F1 2020 -- Not driving my career much, but my ten-year old son and I have been having some good battles with the split screen mode.

Assetto Corsa -- Reinstalled this one after a few years. I saw there are 700 achievements now, and having zero of them is bringing down my average lol. So I installed it and turned some laps, but it's hard with a controller, or I have yet to work out good settings. Might have to bust out the wheel once again. Maybe showing it's age a bit, but I was having fun with it.

I have a goal to reach 2000 Steam achievements. I am around 1850 now. Just a little something to keep me motivated smile

That's it? I'm currently at 4,276. I should hit 5k sometime this year.

How do you see your total number of achievements?

I have the achievements showcase on my profile which shows total achievements, achievement percentage and displays my five or six most rare ones (all EU IV of course)

I think this requires Steam level 10?

Edit: Yes, you get a showcase every 10 levels. You can do various things like complete badges to raise this, but I've never done a single thing like that in Steam.

You've played it? Did you finish it? It is a neat game, but I could use some guidance. I've launched successfully, but not really sure where I should go first? I guess I want to hunt down the people you can hear on the scope? The flying is tricky. Any tips?
