Just finished this book, took a while as my reading opportunities were fewer as we draw nearer to Christmas.

It's a very good and informative read on the subject covering both the allied and axis thoughts and plans concerning the invasion.

Once it gets into the actual invasion itself Omaha beach gets the most attention. Juno is also covered pretty well being the second deadliest landing zone. The airborne activity of both US and British are covered well.

It's not a hugely in depth work, that would require volumes, but its enough to require the reader to have more than an average interest in the subject otherwise it would be too in depth.

Its obvious Ambrose had some biases but I think he is fair overall.

Highly recommend!
