Wiki says this was made for $630,000 in crowdfunding money. A second one was produced with a $33 million budget, with Arnold Schwarzenegger, but it's stuck in lawsuit

I’m sure you all know Kung Fury isn’t supposed to be taken seriously right? It would be like complaining about how bad “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes” is. wink

Hollywood doesn’t work cheap.

I've said it here several times before, but IMO Hollywood is going to be hurting within the decade as low budget indie efforts continue to improve in quality.

Even now, the only real card the big studios still hold is their ownership of the popular franchises, if not for that then the indie and fan made efforts would be eating their lunch.

The popularity of streaming services has changed all of that. Now studios like Disney and Paramount can release their big name IP stuff directly to a streaming service which cuts out a huge part of their expenses.

It's not really Hollywood that is going to be hurting but the movie theater exhibitors.

That is the way it looks to me, as well.

That will buy them some time, but over the long haul I don't think they can compete with the efficiency and passion of the microstudios, who aren't locked into catering towards the lowest common denominator in order to please the shareholders.
