He surrendered. I really don't know his final outcome, but I doubt he died in a Berchtesgaden gasthaus swilling beer with the off duty Liebstandarte guys.

Still playing this. There are so many campaigns and scenario and you can play as many different countries or different armies within the countries, it's endless. I am on the road to Berlin and the closer I get, the more new weapons the Nazis are throwing at me. Their air force which has been very quiet in France is now coming at me in force: bombers, fighters, and the new ME-262 as both fighters and bombers. Took 6 YAK and IL fighters to take out one ME-262 and I am short on fighters. Also they are throwing all kind of new anti tank guns and cannons on tracks or on wheels instead of being pull by horses and also gigantic rail guns and in the current map I am playing, I am seeing this for the first time in the past 29 battles: I was thinking it's something the game makers made up but it's not: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panzer_VIII_MausThat is one ugly thing. WIKI says only one was made. I only saw one in the current battle. Took several shots from 122mm, 152 mm and 230 mm artillery + more shots from several KV85 and T-34 and IS-122 to kill it. Dam thing fire one shot from 3 squares away at one T-34/85 (brand spanking new with full life point) and the T-34 exploded. The T-34 couldn't fire back, its gun range was only one square.

Yes, let's waste time and material on making one super massive totally impractical tank instead of using that time and material on making more PZ IV's and Panthers. Meh, the war was long lost anyway so it made no difference.

Finally got a new plane while playing as Germany. It looks like a goldfish! The German campaign begins in Spain and then goes to Czechoslovakia and Poland and Belgium and France and Greece and North Africa and Malta and then Russia, depending on whether you win Brilliantly or win Tactically or just win or lose. But regardless, it seems at first up to 1939-1940, you get new tanks and artillery and troops units and fighters and bombers and anti-tank guns after almost each won battle. Then 1940-1944, pretty much nothing new. The same weapons over and over. Occasionally it gives you a better tank which is just a very little improved of what I already have, a PZ II or III with the attack attributes raised by just 1 points. Unlike on the opposite side, the British and the Russians kept getting newer and newer weapons in several choices. Instead of a new fighter they have 3 new fighters. Instead of a new tank they have 3 new tanks, all different models and so on. Especially the Russians, they not only had the T-34 and American made tanks, they had so many different models tanks and artillery on tank chassis, I lost count. Many numbers of them too. I am able to field 10-20 tanks and artillery in one battle, the Russians get to put 50 on the field plus half that number of troops. Guess Hitler didn't think he needed to continue weapon development at the beginning of the war and didn't realize it until toward the end near 1943, before that he thought the same weapons he was using in 1938 to 1943 was good enough for every battle, every campaign, every environment. Then when he finally started developing new weapons, they were all wrong. Tanks that were too heavy and too big and too difficult to repair in the field by the tank crew and those tanks used too much precious oil. His wonder weapons that were costly to develop and make in large numbers and were useless in turning the tide of war. He should had concentrated on weapons that were efficient, cheap to develop in large quantity, and could be put on the battlefield in large numbers. Those big tanks Hitler had like a Panther or Tiger may have been no match for a T-34 or a Sherman in gun range, gun power, armor, but when the Russians and British and Americans had tanks and guns on the field that outnumbered a Panther or Tiger 3 to 1, 5 to 1, 10 to 1, don't matter how big that new German tank was or how thick its armor was or how its gun had longer range. 3 to 10 enemy tanks and artillery shooting continuously at the same German tank, that tank is doomed. It can only fire back at one target at the time while shell after shell is hitting it from all sides. Those artillery guns on tank chassis that the German had were stupid too. The gun is fixed and it's not on a turret that can spin 360 degrees. The gun is still only able to fire in the direction the chassis is pointed at. Only advantage it has over a gun that is hitched to a truck or a horse to move it and troops ti unhitch it and turn it into the correct position and direction, is it can roll and turn on its own power like a tank or a truck. I used a couple of them in the game after seeing that they had more attack power than a Panzer III or a new Panzer IV and they turn out to be useless. I move them on the battlefield toward an enemy tank and after it moves the maximum number of squares it's allowed and comes to a stop next to the target I want it to shoot at, it's not facing the correct direction. It may be right next to the target but it will not fire at it because there is NO TURRET. Things like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elefanthttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marder_IIIWasted prestige buying them and they did nothing for me. Didn't help me destroy any enemy tanks or artillery and against soft target like troops, even more useless.

Got tired of playing as the Nazis and getting beat by the Commies. I began a new campaign today. Play as the good guys. Big Red One. First mission, Operation Torch. The F4 Wildcats and Corsairs and TBF Avengers and Catalina PBY fought and operated in North Africa? I am not so sure. Also the American M3/M4 tanks and anti-tanks were weak. 2-4 of them fire at the German Panzer IIIH and IIIJ and IV and do only 1 HP total of damage. The Panzers fire back at one of the M3 or M4 and do 5-6 HP of damage and in a couple of turn, even one shot from a Panzer was all it took to kill a M3 or M4 that had 10 full HP. They also had no range. Range was 1 !! They had to get up next to their target to fire. The Panzers had range of 2 and can fire at the American tanks and anti-tanks and not worry about getting shot back at. The German artillery with a range of 5-6 and hard target kill of 10-14 HP and soft target kill of 18-23 were killing my infantry units like swatting flies!

I cannot speak tot he accuracy of the game directly, but carrier-based F4Fs, SBDs, and TBF supported the Torch landings in 1942; in 1944, carrier based F6Fs engaged the Luftwaffe over southern France during Operation Dragoon.
The Brits also used land-based Martlets (F4F-4s) with their arresting hooks removed in the Desert Air Force,

The only one that seems out of place to me is the Corsair.
Brits operated the Corsair as well. And before anyone says it, no they did NOT teach the US Navy how to operate them from a carrier.
