Trying out Grey Skies (War of the Worlds story). It's ok but 3rd person isn't my favourite. Probably never finish it. For some reason I'm fighting humans in the early game. Also Generation Zero but only SP. I like this but #%&*$# those robots are quick. I like my robots like I like my zombies, Dawn of the Dead speed.

I like my robots like I like my zombies, Dawn of the Dead speed. Eh, you'll have to be more specific Romero speed or Snyder speed?

MSFS and Battlestar Galactica Deadlock. Keeping an eye out on Empire of Sin when it is released.

IL2 / DCS Still Both of these will be on my hard drive for many more years. Why? Both of them are great sims and both of them are the only game in town if you want current day (ie actively developed) combat flight sims.

Mostly been playing FS2020/MSFS/FS11 or whatever name you want to give it. It still has a way to go before it's perfect but its so damned pretty.
I foresee some American Truck Sim coming up though seeing as the Colorado DLC is due to be released on Thursday.

Recently spent 6hrs with Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access version -- did not grab me because it uses D&D tabletop rules in a way which break my immersion (others like that it uses D&D rules).
The last 2 weeks spent replaying Witcher 3 and MSFS2020 -- no negatives on those two (except I need a better system to play MSFS2020 at 4K ultra settings).
Was going to buy/try Assassin's Creed Valhalla tomorrow. But, initial reviews (generally positive) described aspects that turned me off.

Got caught up in Rimworld lately. I'm nearing the endgame, and I'm thinking I might post something more in depth on the RTS board soon. It's really a fun title, very engrossing. I'm surprised at times how much I'm enjoying it.
Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as "bad luck.” -Robert Heinlein

I've been thinking about replaying Witcher 3. It's a fantastic RPG and it's already been about 3 years since I finished it.

I recently read that an official Witcher 3 graphical overhaul is in process -- bring it to 2021 standards. Presumably to be released fairly soon. I wanted to wait for it, but, as I noted, the other options "fell through" for me.

This little exchange was worth while. Put things in focus for me. I've decided to wait for Witcher 3 overhauled. Meantime, I'll play (from the beginning) and self-mod Witcher 2 while I wait -- never finished it or self-modded it. BTW, not finishing is not unusual for me (if I'm not modding). On the other hand, playing multiple times and putting in hundreds of hours on a game that I can mod is not unusual -- record is over 1000 hrs -- where feasible invent items (inc. 3-d models), etc from scratch, etc (e.g. Fallout series, XPlane). Thanks

If you're going to play any of the older Witcher games, you should play the first one, which in my opinion is the best of the series. I haven't beaten the third one yet, though.

I considered Witcher 1 first. It was the last version I played in the pre-COVID late Winter. I never finished. Then, I played 5 other games (IIRC, 4 all the way -- without modding ). I intended to pick up Witcher 1 where I left off a few months back. However, at first blush, this morning, I could not see a way to mod it. So, I jumped to Witcher 2 and am investigating modding which seems feasible. Witcher 3 is easy to mod (and I've modded it). I may look at Witcher 1 modding once again -- since you suggested it And, yes, I'm a geeky-geezer

I can last 40 or 50 hours -- unmodded. But, since I grind a game, I don't get as far as someone else might in that same game. Often, I read an RPG has a 20 or 40 hour plot and I play less than half way in that time. Then, because I grind (figuratively looking under every rock), it gets to be "same old same old". If I mod, it changes things -- not "same old" anymore. In those cases, half my hours (sometimes much more) are spent figuring out how to mod and then modding. Having said all that, I've made a very small number of very good mods -- and many that please me but would bring a "yawn" to others. Among the good: Long ago a realistic WW1 fighter. More recently a fair version of my wife in the pilot's seat -- also very realistic copies of real weapons and armor and some I invented. But, mostly, "yawn" to others. A fun way to pass more time with a nominally good game (we retired folk have time to spare ).
