So I am checking things out on the net this AM and happen to bop on over to TownHall.com...
And there is a big blank space in the middle of the page, yes it's a conservative website, but that is irrelevant.
In the space it said, in tiny light gray lettering:
This ad used too many resources for your device, so Chrome removed it.
Appalling.
Nice way to control opinions you don't like, competitors, and revenue for websites you don't like.
It's not PWEC, as this affects everybody who uses the internet equally.
Not even a chance to see if you want to view the ad, Google just decides what you and I see on the internet and that's it.
edit: Oh yeah, I was using chrome. I sadly have to have it as all my online school stuff works best with it.

Look for me on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or Tic Toc...or anywhere you may frequent, besides SimHq, on the Global Scam Net. Aka, the internet. I am not there, never have been or ever will be, but the fruitless search may be more gratifying then the "content" you might otherwise be exposed to.

Is it possible it was using too many resources for your device? Yeah, but if I try some places without adblock enabled my computer gets huge hiccups and chrome doesn't come riding to the rescue. I don't run adblock on that site as I try to support them, as I tried here but it was unuseable, seriously. I am quite sure google isn't losing any sleep over the amount of resources being used on my computer. Still feels like another example of big tech control to me.

Just wait until countries start getting rid of physical currency and it all goes 100% digital. Then the real fun will begin.

Yeah... and chips in your head at birth. Glad I was young when I was. I was truly free and didn't really appreciate it. Well, at least I do now.

Big Brother was always around and will always be. Maybe but big brother now has tools with which to track you and control you like never before.

What really grinds my gears is to hear millenials, like my nephew, say that he doesn't care if they track or watch him, since he's got nothing to hide and all they want to do is increase commerce. The only way they'll learn is to some day find out that something they wanted to keep hidden has been leaked. Of course, at that point, it will be too late for them.

Second this quote. Is it possible it was using too many resources for your device? Second this quote.

Second this quote. Is it possible it was using too many resources for your device? Second this quote. Yeah, 3 yr old, now about 3 generations back, fast PC. It was humbled by some little ad.

I am at Townhall. I don't see that message or white square. Get Privacy Badger, it's blocking 9 trackers. Website look fine and work fine. Some of these websites are motherf and have as many as 50 trackers. You can manually block each one until everything on the webpage you don't want to see is gone. https://privacybadger.org/I have been using Badger for over 4 years now. I did have it disabled for that place, no more. Thanks for the reminder. Still, it is google overreaching imo.

20 years ago people HERE were saying the exact same thing about red light cameras, speed cameras, camera surveillance in general, on and on. "I'm not worried, I have nothing to hide, only criminals would worry". To speak against surveillance was a liberal, communist, anti-American, unpatriotic near CRIME in their opinion. Always the same comeback: What are you worried about if you have nothing to hide? You must have something to hide"...

Just a few days ago, there was a public scandal with a third-party recording and keeping digitalized details of customers at a shopping centre. During the newscasts, a privacy advocate noted that the practice would have been considered an abomination years ago, but is only considered a matter of business and common practice, these days. https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/20...ogy-at-malls-investigators-conclude.html

You come into MY house it's going to be MY rules, end of story, you don't like it, you don't come into MY house. I'm also strongly support the right of a business to make THEIR rules, in THEIR "house"... But while I'm not going to explicitly "lay down my law" to anyone entering my house in advance, when it comes to businesses that are open to the general public I'd say at the very least there ought to be a sign right out front detailing such things (and indeed this is often done). Kind of tough. On one hand it's "someone's property". On the other hand it's freely accessible to the public (unlike your own home). I have every right to maintain a video record via cameras of what happens on my property. So does a business, ON THEIR PROPERTY. Where I'd start truly having a problem is if there's facial recognition and IDENTITY things happening with it, in advance, with no crimes committed... Yeah it's a tough question.......
