Gentlemen,
when i want to start a new campaign and want a specific aircraft - how can i find out which squadron i should start with?
For example, i would like to fly in an Albatros D.V...do i have to click through all the hundreds of squadrons in the enlist screen to find it out?
Is there an easier way, an overview or something?

Thank you

You can use JJJ65's encyclopedia mod, available here - link

However, you'll still need to look through the data squadron by squadron. The only advantage is that once you select a squadron (using the units tab) you can see which planes it has for the entire war, instead of having to click through all the time periods like you need to do on the pilot creation page in the game.

Just go to the enlistment new pilot page, set the country, set the time, the type of mission (fighter in this case), set the type of plane and hit begin enlistment. It will list all squadrons, one at a time that use the type of plane you want. If it lists a lesser plane, odds are you will get that, so hold out for your plane of choice. It will put you there and then finish the enlistment process the normal way.

Interesting. I didn't know that because I've always used the manual squad deployment option instead.

A word of warning: If you choose a squadron that is transitioning from one plane to another, as the new kid in the squadron, you will usually get assigned the older plane type. This has happened multiple times to me.

I think I remember seeing that the upcoming 2020 update should fix this behavior, so you get the plane you ask for.
