In Florida, sales tax on cars is 6%!

I know.
Norway is a high cost country.
A pint of beer is close to 10 USD so you get the point.

But we have a lot of benefits as well. Most people don`t mind.

Norway has a largely homogenous and small population so that helps a lot.

Which also attracts asylum seekers and immigrants that are not willing to contribute to the society at all. Which is an increasing problem.
Also they bring with them more crime and violence. It`s worse in Sweden as they have been more liberal with immigration over the years.

But I`ve heard the lemon sales are soaring......

I put lemon on my fish, and that's about it. And I'll join you guys in derailing the thread by saying that I remember a freind telling me that he used to own an old Citroen. It had windshield wipers that you had to operate by hand. As you were driving you'd have to be working this little lever back and forth to clear the windshield. Like the old, WW2 era, Jeeps.

LOVE anchovies Mmmm!
Can't help it, I crave salt a lot, I have to be conscious of that in adding salt to anything, but even I find "store-bought/prepared" foods far too salty.

Going to Norway was quite the shock to the pocket - "HOW MUCH??? it was just a measure I wanted, not the whole bottle" comes to mind biggrin
Still, it is a beautiful country, loved my trip there as a teenager - and the girls were soooo friendly too wink

As for cars, my Range Rover is made in the UK but the parent company is Tata whom are Indian and they also own Jaguar. Today I have been going through the second hand car ads looking for something to replace the BMW Touring that the wife bought for our son, wife wants an estate car so when said son pays her back for the BMW, we are looking at a Merc C300dh estate. I had a C300 as a hire car when I took my wife and another couple on tour of Scotland, I was mightily impressed with it, fast enough, economical and a delight to drive, much better than the BMW. (plus it is about 100bhp more for the same size engine biggrin )

Yup.
Norway is a friendly country. smile

Different countries, different cultures and different prices.
On my first trip to Moscow we had a couple of nightstops. Don`t remember if it was before or after the Iron Curtain.
We had to pick up a navigator in St. Petersburg sp I guess it was before.
My collegue and I decided to check out the night life and found a bar that didn`t look to shabby.
We decided to go for a Rum and Cola. 5 minutes later the waiter returned and planted a full bottle of rum on the table plus a 2 bottles of Coke and 2 glasses.
We paid in USD and we gave him a couple. He was very happy for dollars and I guess it was enough for a weeks salary when he changed them in rubles. biggrin
As the responsible guys we were we mixed a couple of drinks and left the joint pretty fast.
We saw that the business model worked on our way out. There were several people lying on the floor sleeping it out.

And no, lemon was not available. biggrin

If it was St. Petersburg then it was after the Iron Curtain fell unless you happen to be 100+ years old and you are referring to the St. Petersburg pre 1918. wink

I have never been to Petrograd, I think, but you could be right.
I think they allowed international trafic as an entry point to the USSR before the Iron Curtain fell. It is very close to the finnish border. I`ll check my logbook later.
We did a domestic flight from Moscow to St. Petersburg on the way back. Then we had to carry a KGB officer in addition to the navigator. smile

And we were lucky and found a Seven Up with lemon taste that we could serve him. biggrin

This "lemon" theme has been recurring quite a bit on SimHQ lately hasn't it?

It's not quite on an epic scale as a Wagnerian leitmotif but it's getting there....
