Well, it could be a glitch, but it also sometimes happens depending on how the squadron is set up. Just be happy you are not going from a Pup to a Quirk, or something similar which I believe can happen in some squadrons as they shift from scout to recon!
The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...

Only a few Tripehounds were fitted with two M.G.s. I would chalk that up to a "field alteration" that you had an opportunity to try out but it was then found wanting (with less maneuverability and lower ceiling, etc.) - and so you were "upgraded" back to the one-gun standard with improved performance. Works well that way for historical realism. (Or you could use JJJ's Mission Ed. to swap in the two-gun variant and, if you like further modifications, you can always check out the two-gun Tripehound FM tweak in my FM pack for WOFF too.) Lots of great possibilities with this magnificent sim. Happy flying all, Von S
~ For my various FM/AI/FPS/DM Mods. for First Eagles 2, WoFF, RoF & WoTR, and tips for FlightGear, recommended is to check over my CombatAce profile ( https://combatace.com/profile/86760-vons/) and to click on the "About Me" tab while there. ~

There were 150 Sopwith triplanes produced during world war one, of these on 6 were built with twin vickers in an attempt to even the firepower playing field with the germans. However it was found that the weight of the 2nd gun and extra 500 rounds of ammunition weighed between 49lb to 54lb. I would guess at 50lb after googling it - the weight of the vickers alone is shown as between 28lb-32lb but that takes into acccount water jacket whiich the airborne vickers did not have, also 500 rounds of ammunition weighed between 21lb-22lb. That would be a considerable increase in weight for an 1916 aircraft. To put it in perspective, most pilots probably weighed between 112lb-140lb.
I know Raymond Collishaw who scored 62 victories tried the 2 gun triplane and found it underpowered and less manoeuverable than the single gun variant. I guess in combat having an extra gun is only useful if you have the manoeuverability to put it on your target easily.

Welcome to war . As Shredward says totally deliberate and historical. The vast majority of oddities you see in WOFF would be what happened in real life. For example some Nieuports with British and French roundels. Shredward painstakingly researched the many 100s of squadrons and added detail where possible that reflected what the squadron had assigned (obviously we do not have every aircraft every made in there - maybe one day). The 2 gun was experimental and you have the luck to get one of them for a short time then as the reports of the 2 gun were not favourable it was dropped - so you get your old Tripe back.
