Seems the showrunners of Trek (Alex Kurtzman++) have laid out the plans for the Trek shows for the next 7 years to CBS. Picard and Lower Decks are both greenlit for season 2. Strange New Worlds and Prodigy are being worked on. Season 3 of Discovery starts dropping on friday. https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/star-trek-shows-planned-through-2027It's a Bright New World. I'm sure the kooks on youtube will be popping up to scream how everything is cancelled and their "sources" has info that Trek has been sold to China, or North Korea.

Eh, the last ST Film was a downer, and I gave it two out of four stars--basically the same rating as an HBO "Thursday Night Prime" era B-movie from the 90s, except those were more interesting and easy to sit through.

Well if there is one thing that any Trek fan can't complain about is that there is a lack of new Star Trek stuff to watch on TV or a computer screen. It's sad to see though that the ST films with Pine, Quinto and Urban have come to an end. Agreed.

It's sad to see though that the ST films with Pine, Quinto and Urban have come to an end. I think those actors did a great job, but the productions were pretty bad, and didn't seem to really understand Star Trek, in my opinion, so I can't say that I will miss them. I'd like to see that cast get a good production in which to play those characters, but I'm sure it won't happen this point. Really a shame about Anton Yelchin.

Meh. We'll see. There's many examples of writers not really understanding their topic and doing just awful writing. Star Trek Game Of Thrones Star Wars House Of Cards The Hobbit The Witcher etc.
I'm happy to be surprised, but I won't be surprised to not be surprised.

I can't think of any other series I've seen which was so outstanding in every aspect until the final season. That final season was so obviously rushed that it dragged down the quality of the series significantly.

Yeah, I would say the last 2 seasons were bad, seasons 7 and 8 had a bad start for me before even seeing them, as they had what, 6 episodes instead of 10 each? Right away I knew it would go terrible, no reason to cut the number of episodes unless you were planning on wrapping it all up quickly. You can't tell me HBO viewed it as any kind of risk and I'm quite surprised they didn't insist on 10. Plus it bothered my slight-case-of OCD Quite clearly the two writers are OK if they have explicit source material, as evidenced by seasons 1-4, but can't really match the ideas once they have to generate them.

That final season was so obviously rushed that it dragged down the quality of the series significantly. I don't think it was rushed so much as D.B. Weiss and Benioff lacked the creative muscle to pull the last four seasons off. They were borrowing George Martin's brilliant mind for the first half of the series, and once his input ran out through his texts, well, things started to drop significantly in quality(barring Season 5, of which was based upon the much panned or less-loved "A Feast for Crows). Some writers just don't have the chops to deviate much from the classic "beginning middle end" structure, and when it comes to twists and turns and meaningful layers of subplots and ulterior meanings, falter.
