If you had a choice between these two for conceal carry, which would you choose and why?

365. Very easy to shoot. Small

In my defense, I was left unsupervised...

Wow, and I know you really like the Springfield XD, so you really would prefer the 365 over a Springfield?

The details say the P365 doesn't have an external safety. Are they referring to, say, like in the Springfield, the trigger safety and the butt safety?

I can't speak to the Sig 365, other than to recognize they are popular.

I carry a Hellcat OSP, and was happy to change from a Glock 19 to that. As one would expect with going to smaller gun, it is snappier to shoot, but no problem with good technique. Mine had zero malfunctions straight out of the box.

Only cons:
- Getting a red dot sight for it is a trial of one's patience.
- I have to train myself to alter my draw / presentation a bit to get the proper sight alignment as quickly as I should.

There is a manual safety variant of the P365, with a different part number.

I've been considering getting a P365 or P365XL. As a left hander, the P365 and Hellcat don't really have ambi everything. However, with the P365, I can use my left index finger to close the slide. The controls on the Hellcat are too far back to actuate with the index finger and are forced to rack the slide, going over the top. Granted, most people are right-handed, but this was making me lean to the P365.

I was also leaning to the Sig since it has more field experience. Granted, their initial launch of the 365 was shaky, but they've improved things now, as I understand. I'm not sure about the Hellcat record yet.

Are these tiny pistols reliable when shot with a less than ideal hold?
