Brilliant work, I really like the opportunities given by the UGV and the CV-90...

3Star,

Anyone can update the REDFOR, either through SPOT reporting(menu item)or they will automatically populate once any scout/FIST vehicle has lased the target. It's pretty spectacular, as you know. I didn't mean to imply the FBCB2 was a Styrker exclusive, just replying to the comment about not having situational awareness. Though, as pointed out to me, I misread the reply. I agree with the UAV commnet, they are an awesome addition too. Can't elaborate on details, but the capabilites are also spectacular.

Ssnake: Thanks for the patch release. I feel a sick day coming on......

Mmm. I know anyone can, the question is over 'who does.' In my case, I work up a rough six-digit, radio it in and start shooting. Mucking around with the touch-screen sending up a contact report when I could be fighting my vehicle seems like a waste of time. Let the TOC do the screen-tapping for me.

Another serious issue is who consolidates and disseminates multiple spot reports of the same enemy. Are three tank platoons reported at the edge of the village a tank company, or just three different reports of the same unit?

To that extent it makes sense to let the TOC handle the issue. If they need another push-button operator, well, let them organize it. Better than filling vehicles with a radio operator like in the old days.

i would say they need a bit more smarts than a puch button operator. some human with some sense is going to need to be able to consolidate/confirm spot reports...either via additional assets (i.e. UAV) or multiple communications with the reporting elements. and everyone in the fight is going to have to understand it is still just military intelligence... \:\)

styker and 3star - i would say if you are a scout, it is your job to report...unless you are spotted and life and limb are at stake. if you are a fighting element, send the spot report up and let TOC deal with it. cool that the methods have not changed much...from when i was doing this stuff. just the tools. i would love to be able to see some of this stuff in action. \:\(

Steel, the way it works.....once a contact or report is sent up, everyone in your virtual heirarchy receives the same data instantly on their screens. The TOC then does the job of battle management and re-directing fighters to either help isolate or reinforce. But, the beauty of the system is in it's simplicity and anyone has the ability to execute messages or reports. So, varies from unit to unit, but I always had a dedicated dismount giving me the updates while riding around and then, when in contact, myself, the PL or senior squad leader submits the report. Generally falls on the senior squad leader.

Throwing batteries around the inside of a tank is counterproductive. Not sure how you throw electrical power though. Zeus?

If they're gone, you're no worse off than if you never had it in the first place. Back to the old-fashioned map and pens.

Though it's also to be argued that if you've lost all electrical power, your tank has bigger issues than knowing where the red icons are.

scout helos and UAVs are much better for recon.
there oughta be an UAV launcher on top of every tanks turret.
