MFair - just some sleight of hand with Paint.net. Same Hun, 3 different sequential screenshots.

Epower, Oliver is one resilient man. Eliza should not have worried in the first place.
And he has returned with a vengeance. Looks like he’s met Jasta 36. Hahn will have to keep an eye out for him (when he’s finally synced in time). He is just ripping through the Huns. His nickname might just yet come back to him, this time in a good way. Well framed shots. I especially like the one of the SE flight in the morning sun.
Look at you, over 50 kills in such a short time. Congratulations to the valiant foe. What I want to know is who’s bottom is Oliver kissing and in what manner to get all these kills confirmed? British claims board just isn’t what it used to be.

Lou, a visit from the Gong Fairy? That would be most welcome. Let’s see, Ziggy’s bio can be found here"

Ziggy's bio

(Now I remember why he has such a soft spot for hired help)
Good to see Freddy hard at work. I see from that collage he’s been doing a fine job bringing down all sorts of Huns. There’s just one thing missing there. A décolletage. Please rectify that little omission in your next post. Thank you.

MFair, thank you for your praise. I’m looking forward to Immer’s return and keeping the scores up while Vogel is recuperating with that bottle of brandy.

Epower again, you Sir are a busy beaver. You are almost caught up and with a tally to be proud of. Well done. And I agree that pic with the three Albs scampering is something. And then I read your latest post. Lies! All lies!
So, when is Oliver going to cave in and finally write “that” letter?

Oberleutnant Zygmunt Dolf Hahn EK2 EK1 HHO PLM
51 confirmed kills
Awaiting two claim confirmations

Zygmunt’s head was swimming. The early patrol and late night celebratory bash concluded in a state of drunken stupor which disagreed with his constitution. What happened last night? He was trying to piece together his fragmented memory. He remembered the early hours well enough. There was a toast made by Müller to mark Ziggy’s achievement. Champagne glasses were raised. Then the supper. Müller outdid himself again. They were treated to a plate of Schnitzel, very sinewy but a Schnitzel nonetheless. It was accompanied by a side of boiled potatoes and sauerkraut. They haven’t eaten this well since ... Well, it didn’t matter. Müller’s magic didn’t stop there. He was also able to procure two kegs of fine Bavarian beer, which were tapped right away. When Hahn inquired about the source of all this goodness, Müller mostly avoided the question, simply stating a business transaction with character by the name of Steinmesser from another Jasta. Zygmunt made sure to remember that name. He could come in handy. Speaking of names, he spotted “his” girl helping with the distribution of steins full of frothing beer to the grateful men at the tables. The Kasino was getting louder with each new mug of beer. People laughing, trying to talk over the noise. The girl was now at Ziggy’s table with a tray full of refreshments on her arm. She stood a mug of beer in front of him. Zygmunt had to know: “- Wie lautet dein Name?” He nearly yelled to overcome the noise, startling the girl in the process. She looked puzzled. He knew she didn’t understand him. “- Name?” In his desperation he pronounced the word very slowly and clearly, enunciating each syllable. The girl seemed to get it.
“- Mon nom? C’est ...” a group of men erupted in laughter, muffling her last word. Hahn was annoyed at the men for making him miss the name. He gave her a look and put his hand to his ear. She giggled and leaned over. There it was. Her face close to his. The sweet violet scent reached his nostrils, the air seemed to vibrate, lights became brighter, his hair stood on end.
“- Nadette”
Everything after was a blur. He remembered Hans Hoyer riding a bicycle through the room. The poor chap hit every edge and table corner, bruising and scratching himself badly.

This morning the two Kette headed for Ghistelles to intercept enemy planes en route to attack the troop camp located nearby. As they circled the camp, a flight of British Nieuports came into view. One of them came after Ziggy right away and put a few holes in his wings. They circled each other but Hahn couldn’t keep up with the more agile scout. In the end the Englander tired of the game and left Zygmunt behind struggling with his machine in a stall.

YouTube Link

As he turned back he saw another Nieuport doing battle with an Albatros. He joined the fun and together with the other German brought the Britisher down in flames.

YouTube Link

More Flak announced more enemy planes. This one was bold. He wanted to play chicken with Ziggy, by going head to head. What he didn’t realize was that Hahn was not a chicken, but a fully grown rooster. This brave enemy soon joined the rest by leaving a smoking crater to mark the spot where he crashed his plane.

The afternoon show involved defending Marckebeeke airfield from enemy marauders. They were nearing their assigned patrol area when Flak began to erupt over their own aerodrome. Thankfully Schwarm Zwei was close and they gave chase. In fact they were herding them toward Ziggy’s Schwarm. They were ready for them, but in that instant Hahn spotted a hive of specks in the distance coming from west. It had to be the escort. Zygmunt let the two Harry Tates fly over and concentrated on the incoming scouts. Schwarm Zwei would take care of the two-seaters. The enemy planes were getting closer. He counted seven of them. His Schwarm had only five ships, they would be outnumbered. It was too late to turn back. He could now see the tan fuselages of the incoming SPADs. He quickly turned his head to check on his flight. His jaw dropped. There was no one behind him! They all went after the bombers. He was alone. One against seven. It must have looked comical to the approaching enemy pilots. He stood no chance. Nevertheless he barrelled straight at them. He was glad these were well trained pilots and they did not all go after him, they most likely would collide with one another otherwise. What he wasn’t glad of was that two of the best of them were now on his tail. Zygmunt could see the rest of the battle nearby and tried to drag his pursuers towards the main furball. They were faster than him. All he could do was to avoid their fire. He continued to battle the pair and finally was able to separate them. He then was able to get on the tail of one of them and managed to send a few volleys his way. The SPAD dove away. It was a protracted fight with the remaining Frenchman. It is not true what they say about these machines. They can turn with the best of them. Finally, after what seemed like hours of circling, Ziggy was getting somewhere. He landed a few lucky shots and the SPAD decided he’d had enough. As he was leaving Zygmunt behind, in his desperation the German pilot fired some long range shots. To his amazement one of them must have connected and disabled or killed the pilot. The plane spiralled toward the ground and smashed into tiny pieces.

YouTube Link

He scanned his surroundings and noticed a lone SPAD roaming around with what looked like no care in the world. Ziggy would soon change that. He placed his Albatros on an intercept course and got on the enemy’s six. After a few well aimed volleys the enemy plane was heading down to crash at the outskirts of their own aerodrome. Needless to say, Ziggy didn’t have far to go to get his plane down in one piece.

Fullofit - Well, well. Ziggy finally got her name. Nadete. Much more inviting than Non Non "Nanette." This sound promising. I like the new use of "Ripper," btw. On a related note, look who's continuing to rampage through the Entente pilots. Vogel better get out of the hospital soon or the lead will be nigh insurmountable.

Oliver does like those Periwinkles. The blue compliments the yellow-orange tones of the fuselage plywood very nicely.

Consolidation, not sleight of hand. At the risk of showing how the sausage gets made and to clear up any confusion... (widen the browser window so you can see them in sequence.)

À la Recherche du Temps Perdu - Part 30 of many

23 September 1917
56 Squadron RFC
Estrée-Blanche, France

6.00
Line Patrol north to south opposite Menen. Maxwell, Maybery Hoidge Jeffs and Turnbull. A lone DFW flew West along the Lys. After the first shots, the Observer slumped lifeless over the side.

[Linked Image]
The Hun fell near Halluin/Rekkum aerodrome.

Climbed back to patrol height with Maybery looking for the others. Reformed the flight over Ledegen. Turning south to resume our patrol a single Albatros attacked the 6 of us.

[Linked Image]
He didn’t last long. Too keen. Jeffs sent him falling out of control.

Completing our first circuit I spotted 4 trailing Albs slightly above our altitude.

[Linked Image]
A Purple Albatros chased Maybery

[Linked Image]
He waited too long to break off, so intent was he on killing Maybery.

I saw that pilot fall forward in the cockpit but the Albatros flew on in a shallow descent.

[Linked Image]
I fired another short burst then drew alongside.

The glide steepened and the German machine exploded. The wreckage landed a mile south of the river

1230
Escort 3 R.E.8s from RFC-4 on a recce of lines from Passchendaele to Nieuport. Maxwell, Hoidge and Turnbull. B-Flight flew top cover. Lost Maxwell shortly thereafter with a dud engine.

North of Ypres B-Flight suddenly shot forward. Huns! We stayed with the Harry Tate’s as B-Flight dismissed the uninvited guests. Crossed the morass of NML at 8800 feet. North to Nieuport without incident. On the return south we ran into 4 Huns 2000 feet above, lying directly ahead.

[Linked Image]
I broke left to dodge his fire.

[Linked Image]
Having missed his chance, he would not get another.

The Albatros went straight down, crashing near the balloon battery 3 miles north of Passchendaele.

Afternoon turned into a fine September evening...

I asked Mac if I might tag along with B Flight on his evening patrol.
“Be my guest,” he replied.

Epower, it’s definitely not that Nanette, although tea for two sounds about right. I’m certain “Ripper” will make a comeback given his present streak of confirmed downed Huns. Ziggy on the other hand will soon learn the difference between claimed and confirmed (just like Bruno did). So, Oliver has a thing for the Periwinkles? Shooting them up must feel like shooting those PLM decorations themselves. Ah, so it was a sequence of 3 shots of the same Albatros combined into a ... montage. Should have said so right away. It is just missing those “movement lines” like in the comics.
I see you’re nearly caught up to the rest of us. Finally. And what’s this about evening patrol?

Thanks Lou. This will give Harris a chance to do more than brush and clean Oliver's uniforms. He's been fussing lately, especially about all the bloodstains on the flying tunics.

Epower, how did the hunt go?

27 September, 1917 05:50 morning mission

Jasta 36
Oberleutnant Zygmunt Dolf Hahn EK2 EK1 HHO PLM
52 confirmed kills

One! Only one out of the six claims had been confirmed. This is an outrage! Whose butt does Zygmunt have to kiss to have his claims confirmed?!
As Ziggy’s flight was approaching their patrol area, they spotted a flight of Camels piercing through clouds near Rumbeke. Zygmunt gave signal and dove after one of the enemies. They began their deadly duel with the British pilot skillfully placing his machine on Ziggy’s tail. It took a while but finally the roles were reversed and Hahn was the one chasing the Britisher across the lines. He was nearly there and just to be sure Zygmunt checked his six. When his eyes faced forward his target was not in front. He lost him! But he couldn’t have gone far. Ziggy altered his flightpath to reveal the enemy flying even lower and very close to the ground. There was nowhere to hide anymore. Zygmunt was on his tail now and firing. The petrol tank was hit and the plane exploded into small pieces. Hahn didn’t watch the wreck go down. He was already turning back and preparing for more enemy machines coming his way. Ziggy observed one of the Camels flying low and when he went under, he banked his Albatros and put it in a dive, right on the tail of his new victim. He damaged him with his first volley. The desperate Englander attempted to ram Ziggy with his plane, but the German pilot wouldn’t have it. More fire and another Camel disintegrated mid-air. It was time to return to base after that.

Scramble! An entire flight of Nieuports was barreling down on him as he was lifting off the grassy field of Ceurne. He knew this was Himmelfahrtskommando. Being pitted against agile scouts with no height to maneuver could only end one way. They were on him immediately, but so was he on a Britisher that happened to fly in front of his guns. As he was firing at the enemy, he was pommelled by two or three from behind. His plane was crippled and all he could do is guide it gently back to the aerodrome that was now engulfed in thick smoke from explosions. As he rolled down the grassy strip in the wrong direction, he saw the hangars on fire. He barely missed a crater in the middle of the field. He was thankful all these bullets miraculously missed his hide. He was unharmed, that is if he manages to stop his machine before it hits those trees ahead. Zygmunt’s Albatros came to a stop right in front of them, gently kissing one of the trunks with its nose. Thankfully the impact was minimal and he came out of it unscathed. At least he brought one of those devils down with him.

Fullofit, that last video was a nail biter! You were lucky to come down alive.

Ltn. Ivan Immer
Jasta 12, Roucourt
Sept. 28, 1917

Immer was glad to be back. His leg ached a bit but he felt fine. He had rejoined his Jasta a few days earlier. Just in time to learn his commanding officer, Vogel, had been carted off to the hospital. At least it was not too serious and he was expected to be back in a week. While Immer was in the hospital, Vogel had visited him. This touched Immer as he knew he was a busy man and had many other things to attend to. They had talked a bit about family. Immer was not one to talk much about his early years but he felt comfortable around Vogel. He had told him father was a raging alchoholic. That was the main reason for him joining the infantry. He just had to get away. It pained him to leave his mother and sister but "I would have killed the sonofabitch if I stayed" he said. Vogel had spoke up, "Ah, now I see why you dont drink!" Immer had replied, "Yes, and the fact that I am just like him, a few drinks and I am not a very nice person. Its best all around if I leave it alone."

The afternoon of the 28th was beautiful. As the Jasta was short handed, Schobinger asked Immer to lead an escort flight to recon the area east of the Somme. They would be escorting 2 DFW's. Immer was elated to be back in the sky. There was one new man in the flight. Raabe had only flown 6 missions. "Stay tight and watch for my signals. At the first sign of trouble, get away and return to Roucourt. Understand?" He had replied in the affirmative. Immer spotted the two seaters at the rendezvous point and turned to meet them. Looking back to check his flight he noticed a single Nieuport diving down on the flight. He pulled up immediatly and engaged the Englishman. It was a short flight and the enemy was soon spinning to earth by one of the flight.
https://SimHQ.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/download/Number/27338/filename/Immer28.1.jpg

The flight reformed and they turned to catch up with the recon aircraft catching them west of Cambrai. Turning back for their second leg of the patrol Immer noticed a fight up ahead. It was Swarm Eins battling with some Nieuports. He signaled to engage and climbed to meet them. He got on the tail of one of the Nieuports and damaged it. Even damaged this pilot could fly and both machines twisted and turned getting lower and lower. Finally, just before reaching the enemy trenches, Immer found his mark and the Nieport nosed over and went down. He climbed immediatly and turned east. He felt exhausted. The two weeks of inactivity was showing. He headed home.
https://SimHQ.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/download/Number/27339/filename/Immer28.2.jpg

Everyone landed except Raabe. Jorke had seem him engage a Nieuport but lost sight of him. Another flier with Swarm Eins was missing also. It was soon confirmed that both fliers had been shot down and killed. "It's a dangerous buisness, eh Der Wolfe?" Schobinger had said. Yes it is. It seems you did not slow the English and French down in my absence." Immer replied.

MFair - Huzzah! Ivan is back in the saddle. Head and heel those Nieups! I hope the claims staff aren't withholding although one hears horrible stories coming out of Jasta 36. Unfortunate about poor Raabe. These youngsters just don't last long with so many the British planes aloft.

Fullofit - Gott Im Himmel! Claimspocalypse! Maybe that Steinmesser fellow can soften up the claims department.
Ziggy sure went through a fair number of his nine lives on that scramble. I thought he was done when he got target fixated on that Nieup and the bullet strikes played their deadly vibrations through his Albatros. Close call there and the landing too. Never thought the DV would stop before the trees. Whew! Ground loop, man! Ground loop! Alive and unharmed though. Well done.

After trying to remember the German term for rookie pilot (neuwach?, nahwuch) I gave up. Any help greatly appreciated. I think it translated idiomatically as "new growth" Most embarrassing for an old WB Luftwaffle to forget such a thing.

MFair, thanks! I thought Ziggy was a goner after those three ended up on his tail.
Well done on your first outing after getting back from the hospital. Those Nieuports didn’t stand a chance. Too bad about that Rauhbein.

Epower, I believe that’s the term you’re looking for.
You think I can talk to Steinmesser about those claims. I wonder which Major he would have to screw over to make it happen? I know I’d have to speak to Immer about extending the landing strip at Ceurne. That’s for sure.

All three of his last claims have been confirmed. Has he finally broken his unlucky streak?
In the morning Schwarm Eins was ordered to patrol over friendly aerodrome at Harlebeke. The aerodrome was a stone’s throw away, just east of Ceurne. They could practically walk there. Hopefully Flak boys over that field are able to recognize friendly Albatrosen from the enemy Camels, or Nieuports. He never found out. As they were approaching their patrol area, something caught Ziggy’s eye. A Camel was diving on them. But where is the rest? Where there is one, there is an entire herd. There! Above and behind. Mad scramble, banking, missing enemy and friendly aeroplanes alike by mere centimeters. Shooting at enemy planes pursuing his wingmen. Finally, Hahn was able to latch onto one that seemed to be disengaging. He was on him and firing his Spandaus. He could see puffs of smoke coming from the engine. Zygmunt also noticed another Camel on his tail. As long as they were all turning, he was relatively safe from the one behind. The one ahead was another story. He was in bad shape and it was only getting worse. His engine has had it. Dark and thick plume of smoke and then flames. He was done for. Zygmunt could now concentrate on the Englander pursuing him. It took a few more flicks of his plane and the Camel was on the run. Ziggy let him go. The Camel had altitude advantage and he knew he wouldn’t be able to catch him. The rest of the fight was over as well. The Albatrosen were moping up the scene and soon the entire flight was returning home.

Just after takeoff, during form-up, they were attacked by Camels. Hahn didn’t know how many. The sky was full of aeroplanes friendly and not so friendly. The problem was that there obviously were enemy planes around, but Zygmunt couldn’t locate them. Each plane he spotted was an Albatros. What was happening? Then finally he spotted one of the Britishers down below. He immediately dove to attack. He had him on the ropes and the Camel soon was crashing to the ground with a dead pilot inside. Ziggy then spotted another Camel tangling with his flight. He had this one in his sights soon and firing the twin Spandaus. The British plane was soon sputtering and slowing down from damage. Hahn had to dive under, else he risked a collision. Two more Albatrosen took over and began damaging his target. The Camel was soon losing altitude to crash below, but just before that Zygmunt sent a final volley into the fuselage. The enemy plane turned into a crater of broken wood and twisted metal. Yet again Zygmunt found himself chasing another enemy plane. He was firing from a longer range when he heard fire from behind and immediately after a powerful hit from behind that shook the entire plane. His head hit something hard, or something hard hit his head. In either case blood began to cover his face, flowing into his mouth, or was the blood coming from his mouth? His nose hurt like hell, probably broken. It was a miracle he didn’t pass out. He could see his tail all mangled and he was losing fuel. He must have collided with another plane. Was it someone from his flight? He looked for a place to land. Too many trees. The terrain was uneven. Even the roads had a steep incline. He then heard the noise of a rotary engine behind.
“- Donnerwetter!” The Camel he was hunting was now hunting him! Who cares about the trees, or some hills? He had to land and he had to land now. He put his plane in a steep dive and hoped the Englander took him for a goner. It worked! The Camel broke off and began his trip back home. That’s one less problem. Now, where to put down his sick bird? The field ahead near the river looked as good as any. Ziggy set it down gently. He waited for the wheels to hit the ground but he just kept on sinking down. Then the plane stopped abruptly. He must have put down in a marsh. He didn’t expect the jolt and the momentum propelled his head forward. His broken nose hit the coaming hard. Ziggy passed out this time.

EPower, Yep, Vogel is going to be ill upon his return and find we have been doing a poor job of taking care of the green pilots.
Fullofit, Ziggy is really living on the edge! When you return to duty you must take better care of yourself. That is if it is possible. It’s really getting dangerous these days.

Fullofit - No, not Ziggy too! Scary stuff in that last video. Tell us it’s not serious, and that the nurses are comely, not Diesely.

MFair - Immer’s back in fine form. And some brilliant screenshots too!

Epower - What of this evening patrol of Oliver’s? Inquiring minds want to know.

Shredward - It sounds as if you may have some foreknowledge of the above mentioned evening patrol. Yes?

VonS - Great to see you dropping in again. Stay a while, have a brandy.

Carrick - No word from Marcel? Off chasing the ladies I imagine.

27 September 1917
11 Squadron R.F.C.
La Bellevue, France

Dawn patrol for ‘B’ Flight and Lt. Frederick Abbott spearheads a dive on nine V-strutters harassing British troops near Old Mossy Face.
[Linked Image]

Abbott recognizes the tail markings immediately, the same as on the Jasta 8 Alb he forced down intact a month ago. He rolls in on one with a candy cane fuselage and his first volley with the Vickers is deadly, sending the Hun slamming into the mud below.
[Linked Image]

Frederick quickly latches on to another enemy and repeats the same trick, while his G/O 2nd Lt. Wallace Wimund unleashes the Lewis guns on his own target.
[Linked Image]

Abbott spots one of the remaining V-strutters attempting to make a run for it and drops in on his six within seconds, and a third Alb falls under the fire of the young ace.
[Linked Image]

The last bit of excitement occurs when Abbott’s wingman, Lt. Patrick Stephenson, chases a stray directly over Frederick’s tail, allowing Wallace a perfect shot, sending the last threat spiraling down to join his fallen flight mates.
[Linked Image]

Upon returning to La Bellevue, Abbott and Wimund turn in four claims, with the rest of ‘B’ Flight submitting four more as well. A bad morning for Jasta 8 - a fine one for 11 Squadron.

28 September 1917
11 Squadron R.F.C.
La Bellevue, France

’B’ Flight assigned a pre-dawn patrol of the lines south of Monchy-le-Preux. The late-August night air is crisp and cold and smells of fall and oil and petrol.
[Linked Image]

No sooner had they reached their AO when Abbott’s incredible eyesight picks out a flight of V-strutters passing below. He gives the signal and dives in for the fight.
[Linked Image]

It’s the Green Tails! As one slashes across in front of Frederick he stitches its underbelly with the Vickers and the Hun falls away into a spiral and does not recover.
[Linked Image]

The fellow’s wingman attempts to climb away but the Bristol will not allow it, and as the Alb looms large in his sights Abbott fires a devastating volley. This Boche too drops to the earth below.
[Linked Image]

Frederick is scanning the skies for any remaining enemy planes when a Hun observation balloon suddenly appears directly in front of him. Without a second thought the King’s airman flies full throttle at the unexpected target, firing the Vickers repeatedly as flames begin dancing on the outer skin of gas bag.
[Linked Image]

Abbott pulls the Bristol back up into the lightening sky and watches with glee as the burning wreckage drifts down towards the mud beneath. Time to gather his flight and return home for some hot tea.
[Linked Image]

The sun was just cresting the horizon as ‘B’ Flight approached La Bellevue. Another very successful sortie, and three more claims submitted by Lieutenant Abbott.

“Outstanding Abbott, you’ve had six of your seven claims from the last two days confirmed.” Major MacLean was smiling as he gave Frederick the news, though if one looked closely a wisp of disappoint could be seen tainting the CO’s smile.

“By Jove! Spiffing new Sir! Gosh, six in two days…” Abbott exclaimed, trailing off as he grinned from ear-to-ear.

“Yes indeed, and there’s more news concerning you as well.” The disappointment in the Major’s smile became more pronounced.

“There is?” Abbott looked puzzled.

“There is. You are going home to England on a fortnight’s leave, after which you are to travel to Throwley and report to 65 Squadron. They are in desperate need of experienced flight leaders and you have been chosen to fill one of the slots. You’re moving to scouts, lad.”

“Me? Scouts?”, Frederick was at first stunned, then nearly giddy. “Which scout plane Sir, do you know what they work in at 65?”

“Camels”, the Major stated matter-of-factly.

“Camels!”, Abbott shouted.

“Settle down Freddy, there is one more thing, and this one is concerning”, MacLean feigned a stern look.

“What is it Sir, have I done something wrong?” the young airman asked in a worried tone.

“You have indeed. You’re standing here in my office out of uniform, Captain.”

“Captain?!”

Epower, good to see Oliver back in the air after a short stay in St-Omer. And what an amazing amount of flying you must have done to catch up! Did you take any time off for meals? Your screenshots have been splendid. I particularly like the one of the defunct Albatros jockey.

Fullofit, congratulations on Ziggy’s fiftieth! I agree with Epower. Ziggy’s lead is starting to look insurmountable. But then again, rumour has it that Steinmesser was seen in the waiting room outside the Claims Board with a small cask of Trappist beer on his lap. So maybe not all is lost! That scramble mission was a scary thing to watch. I was surprised he came off so lightly in the collision with the tree line. Had you tried doing that before? Your last mission was a nailbiter. That Camel that downed Ziggy seem to come out of nowhere. How long are you out?

MFair, Immer is back with a vengeance! Our poor Jasta is getting a bit of a mauling these days. Take care!

Lou, Freddie really knows how to close out his time on Bristols. Six kills in two days is no mean achievement. Congratulations on getting to your first home leave, on the promotion to captain, and on your new squadron!

It has nothing to do with my interview with the Green Fairy

Shredward, Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder - and the brain grow fuzzier.

Raine, I thank you, as Campaign God, for the transfer to Camels - my most favorite of favorite kites to fly in the WOFF skies! And yes, Freddy is certainly leaving the Brisfits in style, thanks to some very agreeable Huns that were looking for fights.

Fullofit - Oh No. Ziggy got knocked about again. How long will he be out? More hospital with Hideous German nurses or beet diets. <shudder>

RAF Louvert in a Camel. Holy Schnikie! Doom on the Luftstreitkräfte (I still have to look up that word every time.) Can't wait to watch that fireworks show.

Who was the dope who asked to tag along on the famous September evening patrol? McCudden didn't mention the extensive reading list required. Sheesh!
