Huge acquisition for them. But I can't see them freezing out the Sony gamers.

Let's hope they finally use a new game engine that isn't a buggy, glitchy mess, and fire Todd "tell me lies" Howard at the same time.

But then again, Microsoft also bought Undead Labs, and State of Decay 2 was borderline unplayable. I don't have my hopes up smile

Oh no.

That is almost as bad as EA buying them.

They also purchased id Software and Arkane studios, included in the purchase for 7.5 billion. Today is a sad day for gaming, because Arkane and to a lesser degree Bethesda still make one of the only types of game that excites me--Ultima Underworld/System Shock likes.

With Microsoft's purchase will come all sorts of nonsensical operating system and cloud requirements.

I think it is a good thing.
MS has done funding for other studios, and the results are outstanding
*Forza Horizon 4
*MS Flight Sim 2020

Without knowing the specific plans they have for these studios it's difficult to judge, but my gut reaction is this is bad for gamers. It's probably worst for Playstation users, PC gamers maybe not so much.

For me the acquisition of Arkane is potentially the most troubling, but then again it could be great. Just no way to know at the mo.

No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

Great! I think Microsoft has been a good parent company for gaming IPs, and they don’t have a grudge against me, so maybe I will be able to re engage with some of my old titles.
