I think more than anything else this video demonstrates just how relative the term "pop music" really is. It's quite fascinating in my opinion.

Not sure about 'pop music', but all the music I listen to is recorded in the 1960s and later.
That seemed to be the time when stereo, amplification, electric keyboards and multi-channel recording technology came together to produce far richer sound than before.
If that stuff was available in the 1890s, I'm sure I'd be listening to some of it now as human creativity hasn't really changed.

On the other hand, most of the stuff made after 1970 is nails on a chalkboard to me (really, most stuff made after 1960, excepting things like the "Ballad of the Green Berets").

Then again, pretty much listen to classical (or John Williams, which, despite mostly being movie sound tracks, is basically classical).
