Hey folks, I'm struggling to find a free video converter that is simple, non-intrusive, does not have a watermark and does not sneak in bloatware. I have some game footage that I'm trying to covert from MP4 to WMV so that I can use my simple Windows Movie Maker to edit it. Years ago I remember using Freemake or something like that but I tried Freemake today and it about made me loose my mind with all its gimmicks and artificial crap that breaks the functionality of the most simplest of processes. Its not free nor does it work well.
I remember using years ago a very simple utility that would convert without the gimmicks and bloatware but I'm finding it hard pressed to find anything that is actually FREE and works, devoid of the intrusive stuff. I tried Handbrake and not only did it take forever to convert, it hung up and failed to complete the process.
I'm trying to edit a video using game footage captured with Nvidia Experience. The videos are 1080p and run at 60fps. I tried using Open Shot which I like for its simplistic controls and interface but the preview video lags, stutters, freezes and does not buffer making it impossible to actually edit the video captures. I was hoping this would work so that I wouldn't have to use Movie Maker since it does not support MP4 natively. I tried another free editor today, Shotcut, but its preview window likewise freezes. I'm pretty certain if I throw these videos in Movie Maker it won't do that. I really wish Open Shot would stream the video preview as I like its layout. I tried different settings but nothing allowed the preview window to play properly. If I can convert these videos to WMV I think they'll play okay in Movie Maker.
