Well, as much as I enjoy the friendly competition with you guys, the game stopped being fun for me. Don´t know why exactly, but over the last few days it suddenly felt more like a chore.

Time is the only luxury.

Too bad, we were having some close battles out on the links.

Maybe you mastered it and the challenge is gone.

Events are still ongoing, ghost is posted if anyone wants to chase it. Good work in the last tournament Wigean. Bay Hill is a nice course.

Had a go at round 1.

Terrible first nine. Takes time to warm up the 3 click rhytm. Had a 3 inch put twice biggrin

Back 9 the same score as DBond. That`s a first. smile

Nicely done Wigean. I can't see your scores until you finish both rounds I guess. I played OK in the first round, but shot lights out in the second. Made a lot of putts for a change. Atlantic Beach is a fairly forgiving course, plenty of room off the tee. Danger lurks here and there, but if you can keep it on the short stuff you can score your ball.

I'm considering taking Duck Hook Divot Diggers Club public. I wanted to keep it private as our own playground. But with participation at an all-time low I'm thinking of opening it up. I'll kick it around more.

Atlantic Beach is in the books. Good golf Wigean. Next up is Tahitian Escape, which may be fictional? never heard of it before. I completed my rounds, ghost is posted.

Played well enough, kept it out of trouble. No bogies I don't think, which is always my goal, but not achieved all that often.

New event is up for the official 2K society, a four-round event at Old Marina. Made a hole in one. That's just my second ace in 260+ rounds in this game. I also made three doubles. Golf, amirite?

If I take our society public we will get more players, but some shoot 52 every round, and I don't want that.

New event is up, Northern Lights. What a challenging golf course. Probably no level lies anywhere haha. Managed to contain it in the first round. Front nine I had eight pars and an eagle. I hit one good shot, the approach on the par 5 I eagled. Scrambled well though to avoid any bogeys. Chipping wasn't a disaster for once. Played better in round two, no bogeys, a few more birdies, but mostly pars. This was my most inaccurate tournament both off the tee and approaching the greens. But I was able to get it up and down when I missed the greens.

Good work Wigean in the last event. You've really gotten the hang of it in short order and you're playing great.

Next up is TPC Southwind. I played it last night and it was a tale of two halves. Played great in the first round, and bad in the second round including three bogeys. Managed to birdie the final four holes I think to salvage a decent score. Putted horribly on day two.

At this point, with participation so low, I am going to shake things up and go public. I will change the tournaments to four rounds, probably over four days (maybe three) Thanks to everyone who joined, but the exodus was swift and complete and while I like playing with Wigean, I want more names on the leaderboard than just the two of us. So after Southwind I will reset again and create a new schedule. Not sure if anyone will join, they'd have to find it on their own. We will see.

I was happy with R2.
This round was pretty hard.
Not only to be careful with distance, wind and elevation, but also the angle of ground you were standing on.

I`m still low equipment wise. I see you can reach the green in fewer shots.I don`t know how far you can go with building on skills, but I feel I am lagging behind.

Yep, skills and fittings are what gives me the edge off the tee. I maxed out level a while ago, which helps for sure, and I've got a driver at 99 power biggrin

I only just upgraded it to that rating yesterday, but still, I had been at 94 for a while.

I recommend using the upgrade mechanic for all unwanted fittings. Just turn the whites in to greens in to blues and so on Then when you get to the level you need, you can choose to exchange them for the type you want. I still don't have legendary fittings on all clubs, driver and putter are so. I could probably do it if I put my mind to it considering all the fittings I have at the mo. But it's hard for me to know what I want.

For example lie range should be meaningless with a driver? Always off a tee so no lie, right? What attribute gives me a bigger target at the top of the swing? Is that transition? Timing? I don't know. So I concentrated on swing path, and then swapped to 3-click and so swing path meant less, or nothing, I think. So at the moment I have sort of a paralysis over the whole thing and use fittings that gives me the best all around stats. Nothing lower than purple at this stage.

Skills are potential pitfalls too I think. You only get 50 points, and could spend a lot more, so there's a certain opportunity cost to it all. And then you have to decide where to actually spend them. Some skills are traps, like those that only kick in when you are playing bad. Some of the deactivations are worth checking too to see if you really want to invest in that one. What the hell is putt path, ya know? Does that give me a bigger target in the swing meter? Top? Bottom? You can tell I've looked in to this haha. I removed the hybrid from my bag so I wouldn't need to spread skill points in that category and any hybrid fittings become instant upgrade candidates.. I've respecced at least five times so far.

About the society, I want to play four rounds, and want to give it a go. But I like two-round events as well. Would you consider starting a society and set the events up the way you want? I'll join.

The trouble will be how long it might take for others to find my society and want to join it. So I could be solo for a while. But maybe you'll play these Wigean even if you'd prefer two rounds?

No I mean the rarity of the fittings, they go from white, to green, to blue to purple. When you get rewards from events, you can take three white fittings and upgrade them to one green. Three greens to a blue and so on. So after a while maybe your clubs are mostly blue with a couple purple fittings. You'll never use white or greens again at that point, so you can upgrade them to a higher rarity. Once you have three of the desired rarity you can exchange it for a certain type. Upgrade is random fitting type. Exchange you can choose what you make, like driver power shaft, or wedge timing grip, and so on.

Jeez,

Talk about beeing thick. biggrin
I didn`t know you could upgrade this way.
I thought you had to earn the upgrades as rewards after each round.

Turns out I have 21 white and 18 green.
71 in total.

That`s what you get for not RTFM.

After talking about it I spent the time to get all clubs in the bag with orange fittings. The worst part is the money. 1050 just to change one fitting on all my irons.

Duck Hook Divot Diggers Club 2.0 is kicking. New season is up. The society has been made public. Events are four rounds with changing conditions and pin locations. Tournaments run four days, so its still 2 rounds per two days, just half the number of events smile

Swing timing is now forced on, and some open settings from before have been turned off, mostly related to the true shot vision or whatever it is called. Pro swing difficulty. First event at TPC River Highlands is live.

Word of warning. A new update hit, 7GB, and apparently broke the game. Widespread reports of My Career being erased or inaccessible. Reports of fittings being gone.

I'd wait until a hotfix before opening it and maybe avoid erasure.

Thanks for the heads up DBond.

I tried to access MyCareer earlier today, but got an error message.
So I played a round in the society Not a good one though.
There were no ghost there, I don`t know if you had been there yet.

I won`t open the game before I know some more.

It seems that online play is OK. I just played the first round in our tournament and all seems fine. I won't open my career until I think it's safe, but maybe its just their servers are down or something not to worry about. But society stuff seems OK.

I went on and finished the tournament, so there's a ghost to tag along if you want. Played well enough, but a few too many bogies. On one hole my dog went nuts about a noise outside just as I hit a putt. Nearly jumped out of my skin and left a four-footer three feet short.

I mixed up the conditions for this one, and I had fun playing this event. Nice course.

I still haven't opened My Career. But the online stuff is working fine. I played the current official 2K society event, Torrey Pines North I think. Four rounds. I shot 56-under, played really well. I was 23 shots behind last I looked. Insane. I made ten eagles in that event.

A couple of people have joined our society but yet to post scores. It will take time to get it ramped up I reckon. But hopefully the players shooting 75-under don't catch wind of it haha.
