Good taste Sponsors are just ways to get rewards and have no bearing on the equipment you use. By the way, the sale ended a few days ago. But guess what? It's back on sale for an even lower price! Twenty bucks, American. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1588010/PGA_TOUR_2K23/

I find it weird that a Sponsor makes you an apparel offer, yet they you still have to buy their clothing. Shouldn't you get some free stuff ?

Lachlan Crossing, better thought of as St Andrews Old Course is in the books. Congrats to Sintax for the win. Good golf up and down the table. That was a tough course in difficult conditions so nice shootin' gentlemen. Despite not playing well I enjoyed that challenge. It's good to mix this stuff up. That links golf gave me trouble because the winds and dipsy-doo terrain saw me miss too many greens, and the short game was too poor to save it. But it's another top ten haha.
Played Craggy Heights and posted a ghost. Did anyone play with Frank's ghost in the last tournament? To see the ace? I'm happy to go first to give everyone at least one ghost if he wants me along for the round. But a few times I should wait a bit so I can do the same.
Craggy Heights is an interesting course. Lots of risk/reward off the tee, especially on the par 5s. As I made my way around sometimes I chose the obvious safe play, and other times I did the riskiest. The wind is down so a little more license. I played well enough tee to green, but didn't putt all that well. the difference for me here was I hit a lot more greens. If I can avoid chipping I reckon I can score OK.

I find it weird that a Sponsor makes you an apparel offer, yet they you still have to buy their clothing. Shouldn't you get some free stuff ? You get free stuff as sponsor rewards. Shirts, hats, clubs, balls and more. But it's not related in any way to which thing they are sponsoring. Like the one you choose as apparel sponsor could give you any of those things, not just clothing, all according to what is set at each level. It's all pretty meaningless, but you get some good stuff out of it. Once you've maxed them all there's nothing further to be gained. Maybe more sponsors will be added down the line.

Ah, I found the sponsor apparel, in my locker.

Finished Craggy Heights and I´ m overall pretty happy with my results. Missed too many easy putts to keep up with Derek, who put on a clinic here!

Yeah, my approach game was sharp, leaving me makeable birdie putts on nearly every hole. I didn't miss any greens on the first day and only one I think on day two. 15 foot average distance to pin meant I had a lot of makeable putts. The more level fairways and more gentle winds helps me so much with approach accuracy. And that means shorter putts usually.
It's interesting how 3-click has introduced such variation to my ability. Sometimes I'm feeling it and striping it down the sprinkler heads and sticking it close. Other times I am just off, everything's offline and my score suffers accordingly. I like it. I like not having full mastery over my shots, feels more like golf. I still struggle around the greens with 3-click, Haven't quite figured that out yet. Much better chipping with swing stick. But overall the change has been good for my enjoyment of this golf game. In some ways doing poorly is more interesting than playing great.

Finished round 2 and ended up -5 total. Not consistent. Yet. When I do a Bogey I do them properly. When I do it well I put 61.4 ft. on 17th. Great fun. DBond, that second shot from the 6th(?) fairway right in the cup was a beauty. DBond and Nimrud; Well done! Off to the Old Marina Golf Club next.

That's cool you were able to play along with me, as it were, and see that. Yeah, it was a wedge from 85 yards that took one hop and dropped in on the fly. Sometimes you get lucky Yep, Craggy Heights ends midnight GMT and then off to Old Marina. I think this is a fictional course. Hope y'all like it. Good luck! So far NimRud has the longest hole-out. His ace at St Andrews was around 190 yards. I looked last night but already forget exactly how far it was. Mine was 177 at Payne's Valley, hole 5. But it was very elevated. I bet I hit 9 iron or wedge. Do you non Americans use yards or meters in this game? Also, just curious, has anyone altered their bag from default? Swapped out any clubs for another?

I`m using yards.
With reagards to clubs your post made me check. I changed the shafts on my default irons. And the heads on driver and putter.
I also won a 5 hybrid iron earlier.
Are there anu rules of thumb for when to change club with regards to elevation?

Thanks, but what I meant is have you swapped out a 5-wood for a 4-wood, or a hybrid for an iron, that sort of thing? We all change the heads and shafts I reckon. Just curious if anyone had swapped out club types. For example I pulled out the hybrid in the default set and replaced it with a 4-iron, and sometimes I drop the gap wedge for a 3-iron. You can have 14 clubs, but there are more than that so you can mix up the bag composition. The elevation question is interesting, because I have no way of doing it scientifically. It's straight TLAR method (that looks about right). But surely there's is a mathematical equation that would convert rise or drop to distance. I just do it by feel and hope I'm close

Using yards as well. Somehow meters in Golf don´ t sound right for me. Don´t use any hybrids in my bag and changed the 5 wood. Using 3-9 irons. Seems to work so far.

OK good. I'm glad we are all using the same format so I don't have to wonder if I'm speaking imperial to metric persons.

I am still on default clubs. Just changed what I wrote in the previous post.
I`ll have to earn some more credits before I visit the Pro Shop.

I`ll have to earn some more credits before I visit the Pro Shop. The shop offers just cosmetics. You can change your clubs anytime without credits. The fittings are the main thing your money will be used at the start.

Yep, I agree. I've bought very little, but spent a lot on upgrading the fittings on my clubs. Changing the shaft on your set of irons will knock you back more than 1000. And with three fittings per club, 14 clubs (at least) and several rarity tiers to climb through, you'll spend a lot here. Offline play is going to fund your gear.
I've bought a few articles of clothing. And I set my bag up to use the clubs I carry for real. I probably had to buy at least some of those from the pro shop. I've also reset my skills at least six times, and that is 500 a pop.
Had a chance to check the leaderboard and that's some fine shootin' Frank. And Wigean is a natural at this, shooting good scores straight away and with the starter kit. Impressive.
Wango Tango held the longest scoring putt at 50 feet. The description in game says 'longest putt that ended up in the cup'. But a scoring putt is one that is for par or better. I think the game sees it as my definition, not just any putt. So if you drain a 75 footer for bogey I don't think it counts. Not sure though. However, Wigean has rolled in a 61 footer to set the new bar. Nice putt.
I hold the longest drive, at 450 yards. But only Frank and I played that tournament at Sky Peaks and everyone else missed their chance at hitting it an insane distance haha. Other chances will come.
Frank, which archetype are you using currently. You've been driving it past me the last few events.

Derek, I' m still using the rythm archetype but have all my driver fittings specced into power. That gives me plenty of range, but with enough control if I don' t get too greedy.

Thanks. That has the lowest power too, so nice craft work on your driver. A potent weapon I played Old Marina and posted a ghost to chase. It's a pretty straightforward course as far as the layout goes. Fairways have considerable slope in them. And with lie grid set to off in our society, proper judgement is required to get the approach shots close to the flags. Do that and you can score the ball. It's fairly short at 7,000 yards, but is also par 70. I felt I played better in the first round but shot identical scores. Weather is spotty rain and sun on day one with the course nice and soft. No rain on the second day but course is about the same. It's receptive to good shots under these conditions.

You'll bounce back in the second round Although I can't see any scores from anyone else yet so maybe you struggled to a 58. What is the consensus on bringing the current season to a close when the current schedule is completed? That would reset all the stats and money list and give everyone a fresh start. Or do you prefer a more complete, historical record? Frank, about that driver of yours.... is it at 100 power? Can it go above 100?
