Watching episode 1 of 14 of The Fugitive. My friend has Quibi and he send the first 11 episodes to me. 12-14 are not available yet. Each episode is like 9 minutes. I watched 4 minutes of it and I ain't feeling the love. https://quibi.com/shows/the-fugitive-565/

This Fugitive is stupid. The cops are stupid. Everything is plot device and conveniently happens to have another 9 minutes episode.

So you think Pulp Fiction is crap but you'll watch "Teenage Bounty Hunters"? Got it.

Right.

One is a mindless kid driven action movie and another is a masterpiece of film, dialogue and multi-layered plot design.

Gawd! Gladiator blew up!

They couldn't continue the series? I ain't feeling any joy and love for this origin story!

This has big shoes to fill after Christopher Nolan's Batman films!!

I don't get this. Directed by the Night at the Museum director. You know it will be dumb!

I think the film will do well financially but you are right that the Nolan trilogy is the paragon of the Batman franchise. And of course with the theater closures due to COVID that will most certainly have an effect on the film's profitability.

The movie is scheduled for October 2021, although some part of me wants to see what will happen with the movie industry if this Covid thing will last for another few years. An avalanche of good indies in theatres? Movies becoming even more CGI?

You are correct that it won't be released until October of next year but I think the prolonged delays might end up killing some of the momentum it had with the general public.

As for the effects of COVID, the major shift is that more and more films will be released directly to streaming than to movie theaters. This trend was already starting before the pandemic but the pandemic has certainly accelerated it.

I've always thought that would make a good and simple action movie. I mean, it's a simple premise, a simple revenge story. Not even Hollywood can screw that up...right?

From the cast and the short plot description alone, I can tell it will be a turd. No Vietnam setting, nothing of the book’s atmosphere. The only way In which that movie will be anything like the novel is because it will say «...and Tom Clancy» in one of the credit screens.

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

I have to say that with the exception of HFRO, I found all of the Clancy film adaptations to be quite forgettable. Not terrible, just forgettable. You watch the film once and you never feel the urge to watch it again.

A black John Clark? His parents in the books are Irish Catholic. DId Clancy ever said what race he was?

That's totally not true! It's got the same title and some of the characters have the same names. And then that will be all that links it to the novel.
Such a waste.

Don't waste money and time on that. Make another season of Jack Ryan and bring back his cute nurse girlfriend.

Considering how lackluster the Clancy films are with the exception of HFRO, you may have a good point that the Clancy stories are best suited as a series and not a film.

That recent Jack Ryan film with Chris Pine went absolutely nowhere.
