Ice Cold in Alex or Eating in ...
Had a quick try out of my new DSLR hooking it up to my 'scope
Can't get the eyepiece in the flip mirror to focus the same as the camera, Nikon has a longer flange to sensor distance and the barrel on the eyepiece does not allow for that amount of extension, it needs another 2mm or 3mm to allow it to focus, I will have to get a new longer barrel made for the eyepiece to cure it.
With a bit of practice it should get better.

Been pretty cool seeing them side by side the last few weeks, with Mars not to far off to the East.

Wow, really cool to see what a high-end amateur telescope can detect from one's back garden.

How detailed is the Moon and which lenses do you use?

Great pictures F4U thanks for sharing them smile

Going to have a go at a bit of of eyepiece projection tonight, it's too hot just yet to roll the scope out.
Last night was direct projection of the image onto the camera sensor no eyepiece used so not a high magnification.

I'm really out of practice with the scope, and last night I could not stay late and practice as I had an early start this morning for a canal cruise with my grandson, which was great smile

My friend Jordi took these last night using a 102mm telescope and eyepiece projection, 3600 images stacked.
See what happens when you let a nuclear scientist loose with a telescope smile

I've never done it, don't have the knowledge or equipment, but stacking is the way to go. It's amazing what amateur astronomers can do with modern scopes, digital photography and computers.

My first attempt at stacking the images, I have passed the video file to Jordi and he is going to see what he can do with it, looking at the original images then it is still slightly out of focus and I needed to up the ISO slightly to get a more saturated image.

Knowing what Jordi is using they are fantastic, he has done well, now I hope to get as good as him at it.

Now awaiting the next cloudless night to give it another go.
