It's entitled "The Luftwaffe Fighter Force", and comprises immediate post-war interrogations of many higher-ups in the Luftwaffe. It is not a fighter-pilot's view, but rather an organizational, operational and tactical discussion of the Luftwaffe throughout its' life. There is some interesting discussion of effective ranges of various Allied and German weapons and aircraft, both currently-used by the Luftwaffe, and some planned to become operational during 1945, had the war lasted longer.

Game and scenario developers, will likely find a good deal of useful information in this book, particularly developers of "What If" scenarios.

A limitation of the book is because of the imprisonment of many of the German "contributors", the Germans were forced to operate from memory, so people reading this book should confirm the information contained within.

Still, for free, there just might be some useful "nuggets".

Did no Modder read the FREE book and discover the effective ranges of aircraft weapons from the accounts of people who were there?

Disturbing.

Disappointing, I could agree with. Disturbing...no.

Just picked it up, though the ad says it is about the view from the cockpit? Is this a series?

This book is part of a series - I have it in paperback and another form the series: 'Fighting the Bombers - The Luftwaffe's Struggle Against the Allied Bomber Offensive' These two are the only ones about the Luftwaffe, the others cover different aspects of the war, e.g. Normandy, Ardennes etc. All are based on interviews with German combatants giving their perspective. Interesting books.

Fighting the Bombers:

Words matter and this is needlessly provocative.

The question is posed in a negative context, with an assumption that modders have been producing sub-optimal work.

Next, the word "disturbing" suggests modders have no interest in correcting that work.

A much better phrasing would have been "It is interesting to read first hand accounts of the effective ranges of aircraft weapons from people who were there. Maybe modders would find some useful information in the book."

And, FWIW, some gaming data to back up your contention that the weapons in EAW are egregiously poor would be a good starting point rather than dropping a bomb into a pretty peaceful forum.

Heck, even paranoids have enemies.

I must apologise. I thought the original 'disturbing' statement was simply aimed at all who might have not bothered to read the recommended 'free book'. I didn't get the nuanced dig at the modders who have furnished us with a great game.

....and I was wondering if any of the flight/damage modders were aware of the existence/availability of this book at the time that they were working may years ago.
