Your IM/PM box is full. I wish to contact you concerning long-postponed discussions. I regret the delay.

To those interested: I recently underwent a family death, as well as some minor personal health issues. All of this what the virus ongoing, and my being in an "at-risk" cohort.

The former is being dealt-with, and the latter has been resolved.

I regret that my attention was diverted, but first things first.

Not attempted so far. The "Honey-Do" list has been a formidable object to overcome, and "She That Must Be Obeyed" (Remember "Rumpole of the Bailey?) has some justifiable complaints.

No matter, will get a good part of the list accomplished, and so back to more serious matters.

Who needs running cars and roofs that don't leak?

Regret the delay,

I assume the latest iteration of V1.60, as linked in your dedicated thread above is GTG? I'll probably delete ALL other versions prior to installing it. Seems wise, all things considered.

The Honey-DO list is always endless. I have not forgotten, but real life has intruded. In the interim, I had to make some very long, non-stop, (900 Miles each way) trips to and from Rhode Island to South Carolina to speak to my sister prior to her passing, plus spending time with her, and her husband and family. Unfortunately, due to the uptick of the "Virus", I will not be able to be present at her interment.

Please understand that I have some real world concerns, In saying this, I mean NO offense to you, whatsoever.

You have a legitimate gripe about my being negligent as to maintaining contact. For that neglect, I apologize. I hope you will understand.

My condolences. Death of immediate family is always a tragic thing.

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

Thank you. Lyn was 6 years older than me, and her death took all of us by surprise. I never expected to survive her. I guess it's different if an elderly relative passes after a long illness; We all are used to that, there being time to adjust. But her death, coming suddenly, is a bit different.

I appreciate your kind comments.

Thanks for your response. I am sorry to learn of your bad news, and send my condolences.
With no news in more than a month and increasing levels of Covid-19 infections being reported I was beginning to worry wink

Thanks to all for the kind comment;s; much appreciated.

I think it best to purge my computer of all preexisting versions of V1.60. Doing that now prior to downloading the new V1.60 files. Il'' try this on the Win 7 computer before tackling the
win 10 computer, as the Win 7 install should be straightforward.

I assume that the prominent download link in Mr Jelly's pinned thread above is the most up-to date, and includes everything (13th June 2020 link)?

After uninstalling all previous versions/traces of V1.60, I installed the latest iteration onto my win 7 machine.

It worked, and right off the bat!

Allow me to preface my remarks by saying I am approaching this install basically as a newbie--as I am, to this version of the game, at least.

Some plane sets were not available for some locales, so some experimentation was necessary to select the appropriate plane sets. This might be due to my ignorance.

It seems that all of the menus are so psychedelic as to make some of them unusable, and so I will need to use a wrapper program to correct this issue. From past experience, my Win 7 computer is able to incorporate such without inducing any significant problems. Which wrapper program do you suggest?

For Win7 I use the d3dWindower if I need to fly single missions to get the correct selection map display. I do not need it for multiplayer at GameRanger, or multiplayer "host-only".

What video card are you using? If it is nVidia then you need to use a glide wrapper such as nGlide to get horizon fog.
My card in an AMD one, so I do not need the glidewrapper.
I do not have scrambled menu pics in Win10 so I do not use the windower program, or the glide wrapper.

Let me know what you are going to try. If you use a glidewrapper then the screen needs to be set to 1024x768 in the "eaw.ini" file.

OK, I have an Nvidia GT 1030 graphics card in the Win 7 machine. All the Win 10 machines also have Nvidia cards of various generations--all newer versions

I already have nGlide installed Do I need to make any changes within V1.60 for nGlide itself?. If so, what might they be?

I have D3DWindower in my downloads, so I guess I'll probably install that, and configure it as per MarkEAW's Help site recommendations. With D3DWindower installed and configured for V1.6, are there any settings that need to be tweaked to get D3DWindower set up to work along with nGlide? If so, what might they be?

Thanks!

OK smile
Because you have the nVidia card you will need a glidewrapper in both Win7 and Win10.
When the glide programmers added Glide3 to our version of EAW the screen resolution in the "eaw.ini" file had to be 1024x768 and this is not negotiable.

You must not try to not use the d3dWindower in Win10, so in Win10 it is a matter of experimenting with your glide settings.

In Win7 you need to set the screen height and width to 0 in the d3dWidower configuration to force the exe to use the default settings.
Then you can try the glide settings that work in Win10.

I tried in Win7 this morning using nGlide.

My EAW screen was set to 1024x768 in the "eaw.ini" file. This is essential for Glide3.

My nGlide configuration was this:
[Linked Image]

My monitor screen is 1920x1080 and that is what I used in the nGlide configuration

********************************************************************
I just installed nGlide2.10 on my Win10 PC

These settings worked well:

The reason why I only ever use nGlide is that the developer (Zeus) is the person who added the Glide3 code to EAW for me.

I have just experimented with the pressing of Alt-Enter when the game was running with nGlide.
With the settings in the previous post it gives me a window on my main screen, but acts as a toggle, enabling me to see either the rest of the main screen, or a black border.
