Went to a friend's home after school to play it. He had it on Apple computer. It was black and white. Do not know what version it was. I could take off but could never land without crashing. No joystick. Mouse and keyboard only.
This new one looks #%&*$#!
What are the system req on it? I will need a new computer to play it. Will it be on the Playstaion or XBox?

Yeah, the first time I played it, it looked like this...
Those are CGA composite output shots, where tricks in pixel placement produced 16 colors on a television set from a 4 color palette. When I first played MS Flight Sim, it was on a friend's PC with a 4-color CGA monitor, so it was 4 colors, period, and looked a lot like this:

It does look awesome but yikes...150gb of HD space AND it needs to constantly stream from Microsoft's cloud?
"The studio has previously discussed the two petabytes of mapping data that feeds its simulation — far from feasible when over 2000 times the size of your 1TB hard drive. The game instead streams the world detail from Microsoft's cloud data centers, requiring a stable internet connection."
I'll take a wait and see approach on this one.

I'm not jumping in early for 2 reasons. One,the price (although I guessed it would be about £60 for the basic version) and 2,I'm not that eager to play a civ flight sim, even one that looks this great.
I doubt that the X-Box will look as good. I'm betting the preview is running on NASA hardware

Depends on the view. My first jump, with an instructor strapped to my back, we jumped at 10 or 12k over a beach. He circled us down perfectly over some lovely topless sunbathers who all oohed and ahhed when we landed as he put us down about 5 feet away.
Luckily for me the chick i was jumping with was curled up in a ball of terror at the back of the plane and never jumped...so i didn't have to face the wrath of my 'forced view'

Not as hard as you would think. I earned my parawings when I was 21, and the biggest issue I saw people from my class struggle with was that they were overthinking it. Just jump and rely that the engineering holds up. The people that didn't make it, all were guys that were thinking about it too hard, and even after the sergeant threw them out of the plane they were panicking. Just do the job like you were instructed to, and the pass chance was 100%. I don't know what the pass-rate is with HALO jumps, but I would find it strange if people wouldn't make it if they did like the instructor told them to.
Sure, there are stories on YouTube when the wind was too heavy etc..., but at the end of the day it's plain physics and jumping with a parachute is about as safe as climbing into a Cessna.

Great fun! Though the highest I jumped from as a civvy jumper was 12k feet. This was in the days of the round canopy, so landings were rather hard if one didn't get the roll right. Square chutes were just being introduced here and were restricted to those with at least 200 descents. Only gave it up due to the English weather making 4 month of weekends 'not jumpable', mostly due to visibility. At that time (1979), if one didn't jump in 3 months you had to go back to static line for a few. Also Was grounded by Bank Manager as I had run up rather a large overdraft in pursuit of my interest. I seriously intended to sell my flat (apartment to you) and take an instructor's course, offered in Hope Valley Ca. But I met this beautiful lady who became my wife of the past 39 years and mother of my 4 great children.*
To add to comment above, the highest risk factor involved in the sport is the drive or ride to the airfield.

Glorious Green Screen on my mate's Apple II was my introduction to the delights of Sublogic's Flight Simulator before Microsoft bought it.
This is how I remember it, and then later on the Commodore 64 with colour too! Not my pic I hasten to add, just a random image off the interwebs.

I have ZERO interest in civilian flight sims but to each their own of course. It's like those people who play the John Deere farming games or a public transit bus driving sim. Whatever floats your boat dude.
