Yes you can Coot, although I can´t say much more because I just played the tutorials. It has a single player mode, and you can edit your crew and build your own sub aswell if you like, there also seems to be alot of user created content in the Workshop.

Have you tried Soma, and Observer? Pretty atmospheric to me with cool storylines.

I loved Soma until I got stuck at a particular point and quit in frustration.

Observer has to be one of the better games I've played for immersion and story.

Tacoma (mentioned earlier in this thread) wasn't too bad for a short-ish sci-fi story. Now I'm working through 'Deliver Us The Moon' (Sci-Fi thriller) which seems quite promising so far.

Soma has some interesting creepiness to it but the lack of any combat whatsoever and the non-sensical puzzles made me lose interest after about 5 hours of playing.

Yeah, it does feel oddly relevant, and for me it's the best of all Far Cry games. I'm currently playing New Dawn.

Who knew the fishing mechanic in the game could be so relaxing? biggrin

While not as involved or as deep as FC5, FC New Dawn is now sort of my present sandbox game--simply because it doesn't force one to have to follow the story line. You only have to follow it as far as needed to level up and then you can totally ignore it and play the game like many open world games.

FarCry 5 got on my nerves after a while simply because they constantly forced one back into the story line. No matter what you did--at certain points in the game you were going to get captured by one of the cult leaders and either stage an escape or have to submit to some drug induced mission in La La land.

Once leveled up with all the best weapons in New Dawn, I find it a fun challenge to retake each of the outposts by enforcing my own limitations such as only using personal take downs, or only using the compound bow, etc.

Kind of looking forward to FC 6 since the main villain is being played by Giancarlo Esposito (Gus Freng from Breaking Bad)

Cheers

We might be the only two people on this whole forum that have even heard of Barotrauma let alone play it lol.

Great coop game though.

Thanks Red. I've had Barotrauma on my wishlist for awhile but was uncertain how genuine its single player mode was. I do have SOMA and have loved my time with it. I've been stuck at what I think is the end for awhile now with the last entity. Its very dark and I can't find my way around while trying to avoid the entity. SOMA eventually turned out more scary to me than Alien Isolation. AI was very scary for me at first and still maintained its creepiness throughout but I had to come up with defense mechanisms as a player to get accustomed to the scary. SOMA from beginning to end has this unyielding loneliness and terror when things get weird. I love the underwater setting too. I'm just struggling to finish it because of the tricky entity at the end.

Speaking of atmospheric games one of my favorites has been Ethan Carter. I started on the original version then they came out with the free update to the newer engine. Its a gorgeous environment with and intriguing and sometimes creepy story line that has many surprises. That company was last I saw working on another, totally different game that looked quite bizarre but fascinating.

If Observer is the one I'm thinking of, I think I got it for free when GOG was giving it away. I'd like to give it a try. -edit- (I just looked and I was thinking of Obduction which I believe was made by the Myst games)

I still have yet to finished Kholat after many years. It has some nice elements but its always been unoptimized and runs rough for me through out.

I was also surprised to see that some of these Playstation era games have come out on PC like Beyond Two Souls. I played a lot of that on PS3 and enjoyed it and its very creepy with an engaging story line. I imagine it looks and plays all the nicer on PC with 60fps.

Just finished playing Abzu, absolutely fantastic experience smile

After a while I noticed that I had zoned out and had played the game without my brain being there. Fantastic sound, and really nice paced scenery. It is nice when a game just lets you relax and take everything in. It reminded me of Rez, but instead of raising your heartrate it decreases it.

Abzu is about as long as a movie though, and there is not too much replayability in it, so keep an eye on that if you decide to purchase it yourself.

I've been playing quite a bit of the Mad Max game that was released back in 2015 as well as Total War: Troy. I've been enjoying both games quite a lot.

I think I'm on turn 60? Overall I think the game is a solid effort but I will also say that players who are huge fans of Greek mythology and have read the Iliad at least once will most likely get much more out of the game. It would no doubt increase the immersion.

I'm playing:

Invasion Machine (in early access, but is still quite a bit of fun).
America's Army Proving Grounds (its just so much fun playing with a small community of people, most of whom I know).
Groundbranch (needs players, but is fun)
Wargame Red Dragon: Like AAPG this is an oldie but a goodie.

The word "Martyr" is just a fancy name for "crappy fighter".

Yup,

liked ABZU a lot, I can`t remember why I bought it, I`m normally not into this kind of games.

I bought Crying Sun last week, it`s a cool game, a bit like FTL, but with more tactical depth.

I've been replaying Mafia II, it's a solid mobster game with a decent story and game play.
I do prefer the story and 1930s setting of the original.

And some Fallout 76, picked it up a few weeks back while it was on sale. They've fixed some of the problems and issues it had at launch. While it's fun, I would have much preferred it to be offline.
I'm also not a fan of how the perk cards are handed out. Every few levels you get a pack of several random cards and when you increase a SPECIAL point you get to choose 1 from a small sample of random cards from that stat.
It makes it so you cannot just make the character you want from the get go. I'm running around with melee weapons and shotguns because those are the only perks I have.

As soon as I read about the changes with Fallout 76 before it was released I immediately lost interest. I'll just wait for Fallout 5 instead thank you very much.

That's why I waited as long as I did. For the half price they were offering at the time I bought it, I'd say it's worth it...barely. Some of the story and missions are ok, and it's a fun multiplayer romp. Still has some bugs and I loathe that I cannot just pick the perks I want until hitting level 50.
