ok. no spoilers for season 3 Ep1.. but I will say...
I have never seen such simple dignity from an actor as the man who plays Sahil. the man deserves an award for just that scene alone.
That scene was excellent! I have only seen the first three episodes, but I’m liking it so far.
In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!
Signed up for Paramount+ in order to watch "Seal Team". Wife wanted to watch STD (we'd seen seasons 1&2 via previousfree trials) so I got pulled in to watch it as well.
My first and most lasting impression from this series is that the "Discovery" the Trek universe has made 900+ years hence is that straight white males are an endangered species since they so rarely make an appearance.

Dont worry Time Travel will fix it..They need to get back into the Red Angel storyline with her mother.
And that was an absolutely preposterous storyline, more fantasy than sci-fi.

I saw most of the pilot episode of Star Trek Discovery, but that's it. Nevertheless, I found this video interesting, and it confirmed my initial impressions (language warning).

As far as longevity goes, five seasons sounds like a lot, but 65 episodes do not. Now, if you only go five seasons, and do 10 episodes per season, that’s one thing, but the failure to go beyond five seasons is in fact a problem, specifically because had the show stayed consistent, they’d be at 75 episodes right now. Why is that?
Point four, the show had its budget reduced season, after season, after season. Usually, when you have a hit show, you add episodes to the show as the budget gets bigger. With streaming services throwing ungodly amounts of money at properties that they expect to raise their profile, to see a streaming service cut the budget of a show after just one season is pretty evident proof that the show was not meeting expectations financially through viewership.

Some good points brought up but we are missing the most critical data: the actual streaming numbers for the show. Unfortunately for us, those streaming numbers are often not publicly released.
Reducing the budget each successive season provides some evidence but it's really circumstantial since that budget reduction could have been the result of other things like shooting at more cost effective locations or using more cost-effective CGI.

I've been thinking about this some more and I would classify the ST show franchise in this way:
ST: TOS Not a financial success at the time and season 3 was only made because of a significant amount of fan mail that came to NBC. The budget was also reduced significantly for season 3.
ST: TNG, DS 9 and Voyager were all undoubtedly successful. Each of these series ran 7 seasons.
ST: Enterprise: Considered a financial failure at the time since the viewership dropped significantly as season 1 wore on. The show also only lasted 4 seasons even after the budget was reduced.
