What a life. Olivia de Havilland, legendary 'Gone With the Wind' star, dead at 104 Olivia de Havilland, legendary Golden Age Hollywood star, has died at age 104. The news was confirmed to Fox News by her son-in-law, husband to daughter Gisele Galante. She was born in 1916 and died on Sunday of natural causes in her Paris home, The Hollywood Reporter reports. The star was the last surviving star of "Gone With the Wind," which had recently come under scrutiny for its depiction of slavery in the pre-abolition South. De Havilland was nominated for an Oscar for her role in the movie. The actress won two Oscars in her lifetime -- one for her work in "To Each His Own" and another for "The Heiress."

Don't know who she was?.....
She was one of the premier actresses in her day, playing along stars as Errol Flynn, Clark Gable and others in the "Golden Age" of movies. Someone had a sheltered life. RIP Olivia.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

"IDK who she is ..."
So you never saw "Gone With The Wind." Good Lord, I feel like I'm talking to one of my kids. But anyway, to be honest, I didn't realize that she hadn't died yet!

Don't forget that NFB is most likely under 25 years old.

Its not a crime to be young and not know every famous person. This is true. Why do people have to post things where NFB has to defend himself like that? Big deal if the have a sheltered life, they're not required to know Hollywood classics or actors. Saying something like that only chastises another person for no good reason and starts something. BTW I'm pushing 50 and I've never seen "Gone with the Wind" in its entirety, just bits and pieces, so you can't assume that just younger people have never seen the movie. I don't know how old NFB is, but if he's young enough, then maybe you are basically talking to one of your kids if he's from the same generation. How is someone's kid supposed to know these things unless someone like his parents or someone else shows or teaches him? You can't assume that just because a movie is a classic that it means that everyone has seen it or knows who is in it. So give the guy a break. On a related note, yes, incredible, she must have held the record for age for an actor/actress. My wife was just mentioning earlier this month how she is still alive and over 100 years old and lucid, and now she's gone. That just leaves, I believe, Norman Lloyd as the oldest living actor at the moment. v6, boNes

Hence, my statement, "I feel as though I'm talking to one of my kids." That's all....let's not get all defensive over something rediculous. Now I feel as though I'm talking to my wife! Geez!

Pooch,
Not being defensive, except for NFB. I was talking "you" as in generic "you." That's one of the problems with English unfortunately, that the generic "you" is the same word as the personal "you" and then people take offense to it. At least in some of the Romance languages, there is a different word for that. I probably should have said "one" instead of "you" but whatever...
