It seems a recent update to IL-2 BOS broke the ability to host a peer to peer cooperative server. I hope not, plan on flying some with a buddy of mine tonight.

Let me know if it works for you when you try it. I used to do flying with some friends on a peer to peer Coop server for a couple of years with no issues whatsoever. Then we tried it again about a month ago and none of us can connect. I tried hosting and the other guys tried hosting and we got the same result. As soon as you enter a password to join the game locks up and stops responding. We tried taking out the password but as soon as we click on "join" the same lock up occurs.

No issues connecting tonight! Interesting that the peer to peer option worked for you guys. Maybe it could be some router settings that could be blocking communication? I'll have to dig deeper.

Make sure the required ports are open. Mine recently had to be reopened, for some reason my router forgot my setting.

This was finally fixed. My friend discovered that he had to create a rule for port forwarding for the game in his router. Once he did that I was able to connect to him. He had created this port forwarding rule a couple of years ago but his MAC address changed after he upgraded his motherboard and thus he got assigned a new IP address. That will do it! I have even had my router port forwarding settings mysteriously vanish once as well so just keep this in mind if you have issues again months down the road.
