The world was still mostly in black and white back then, NFB. It wasn't until Agent Orange spread during Vietnam that the global re-colorization process was completed. If you go back and watch old news footage from the early 60s, you'll notice hue issues, and that was pre-Orange, but most anything from the early 70s and on has proper color. I blame it on the darn Industrial Age, what with all the soot that coated everything, draining the color from the world. Examining photographs from the 1800s is evidence enough of this phenomena, with the stark black and white hues, which contrast with prior oil on canvas gorgeous color works that pre-date the mid-18th century.

Some films are better in B&W. The George Clooney version of Fail safe would be worse if in colour.

Any the B&W version of Stephen King's The Mist is more atmospheric in my opinion than than the colour version.

Oh, and yes Colour is spelt with a "U"!!!!!

Finished the series Dark last night on Netflix. It takes some real effort to follow the story lines and relationships but I really enjoyed the story and how it played out. Most shows of this type become a huge disappointment but this was tight and really had heart. Excellent acting to boot.

I thought the first one was so awful I never saw the second. I fell asleep less than halfway through the movie!

I've come to accept that if a movie has nonsensical action bouncing flippantly from scene to scene with jello dialogue and a saccharine plot, it's not for me.

I completely see your point. It is also very indicative of what the mainstream movie audiences want to see and what they respond well to. I recognized a long time ago that most of my film preferences are not in-line with the preferences of the mainstream audience and that's fine with me. smile

In all fairness to the Jumanji movies, we need to keep in mind that they were made for adults AND kids.

I watched through my ST: TOS blurays about 2 years ago and I was pleasantly reminded just how many great looking women made appearances on that show. Kirk was a lucky man indeed. biggrin

That and the premise of the movie is that they are inside a video game.
