Am I the only one surprised to find out she has sold 50 Million albums ?? She was trending on Twitter because she is 70 today. Many of us remember her a Leather Tuscadero on Happy Days, way back when. I am having a really really hard time believing she has sold 50 million albums.

To be totally honest I have never heard of her before.

This might explain why I hadn't heard of her until the post by Wango.
From Wikipedia,
In the 1970s, Quatro scored a string of hit singles that found greater success in Europe and Australia than in her homeland. She reached no. 1 in the UK and other European countries and Australia with her singles "Can the Can" (1973) and "Devil Gate Drive" (1974).

There were plenty of bands in that era that didn´t make fame in the US at the time. Status Quo is one of them for example. I think it was about there "In The Army Now" (way later in there UK fame) that the US caught on to them. But that happend with many British bands at the time...
When I was 16 (in the late 70´s) we moved from FL (US), to Europe were we spent a year. We came back to FL later on and I was wearing a Iron Maiden T-shirt from there first album of course. At my high school (Miami Senior High), nobody new who they were, they were all into the new Van Halen, Foghat, Molly Hatchet etc. They had no Idea who Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Motorhead, Judas Priste were...still. So the new age of British heavy metal was still to be known in most of the US states. I remember going to see Ozzy (with Randy Rhodes) at a concert hall in Miami and everybody staring at me because I was wearing a leather bikers jacket full of metal studs and heavy metal band patches! I was only 17, but that´s how we were here in Europe at the time. You were either a Mod (The Who), or a Rocker! See the movie...
I had a crush on Suzi Quatro when I was young BTW

Is that just in the US or world-wide? I'm thinking that those sales were mostly outside the US.

I miss the old Miami. It's a completely different world now and you won't find any rock concerts in Miami anymore. All of those are held further north in the Ft. Lauderdale area. If you are not a Latin music or R&B/hip hop artist there's really not much of a market for you in Miami.

I lived in Germany in the early 70's and def heard her a lot as a kid.
Ok, yes I know this song. I just had no clue the female singer was Suzi Quatro!

She was pretty big here in the UK. I was a bit young at the time to appreciate how hot she was but I did like her music.
