Started watching Dark (German Sci-Fi on Netflix). Very intriguing with a cup of nostalgia. Hope it lives up to its potential!
I have not seen it but most of the critics have been raving about how good it is. The third and final season was released a couple of weeks ago.

I watched part of the first season of Dark and then it lost me. I wonder if having to read the subtitles made it more difficult to follow what was going on?

Too much to follow and keep up with at one time, too many characters. Read those WIKI links. Some of those characters look similar to each other on screen too. Jumping back in time current past future doesn't help.

I admit that it may have been closed-minded of me in retrospect but the main reason why I wasn't interested in Stranger Things when it first came out was the main cast consisting mostly of kids. I guess I just saw it as a modernized "Goonies" or an "X-Files for kids".

I think the Goonies comparison is fair. It's pretty lightweight stuff that kids can enjoy, but fun to watch if you grew up in the '80's. For me, season 2 was really lame but season 3 made up for it.

I watched "The Hunt" on Amazon Prime pay per view. It was supposed to released in the theater last March, but I think maybe the mass shootings and the resulting political uproar caused the release to be pushed out, but then it got caught up in the lockdown, so it never reached many theaters.
If you haven't heard about it, it's dark comedy about a group of liberal elites who kidnap a group of mostly conspiracy theory conservative bloggers and Youtubers so they can hunt them for sport on a private estate. There's a bit more to the plot, but it would be hard to explain. It's a bit gory at times but actually fairly well done.
However, one of the captured group turns out to have a lot of skills and resourcefulness the liberals were not expecting. The lead is played by an actress named Betty Gilpin. She's from New York in real life but does a passable Southern accent. She's quite believable in the part and not that hard to look at. It also stars Hilary Swank as a guest star who is only in the final fight of the story playing the very capable elite leader.
There are plenty of surprises along the way. It's not a great movie by any means, but it kept me entertained throughout. I'd give it maybe at least a 6.5 and probably a 7 out of 10 if push came to shove.
Gilpin was one of the Stars of a series called GLOW on Netflix. The was a period piece set in the1980s when Las Vegas promoters were trying to get professional women's wrestling started. GLOW stands for the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling. I may have to give that one a look-see now.
Cheers

This is out now, today, on Netflix. It's getting mixed reviews, most of them positive. It may become a franchise with Charlize Theron.
I couldn't sleep, so I got up and watched it starting at about 2 AM. I thoroughly enjoyed it and yes it included a teaser at the end hinting at a continuing franchise, but still told a complete story with full-scale movie production values. However, without giving much away, they introduced a plot device that might allow Charlize to step away if it does get going. Although it didn't have the same vibe and was much more action-oriented, the basic idea still reminded me of Highlander a bit. Occasionally along with modern small arms, a member of the team would use an ancient weapon like a broad sword or in the case of Charlize--a really wicked looking double ax. Cheers
