AMD’s Lisa Su: Zen 3 [Vermeer CPU] Is Looking Great And Launching This Year
There had been some rumblings that AMD might delay Zen 3 based CPUs to 2021, but I think it's safe to say that particular horse has been shot and buried
We have already heard some extremely tantalizing things about Vermeer including a huge IPC gain and the iterative performance far outpacing Intel's 14nm on both compute and gaming sides. Vermeer will be manufactured on TSMC's 7nm process (likely EUV) and will be a big step up from current generation Zen 2 processors. It looks like nothing can stop AMD's rise to dominance in the x86 market.
As expected, the new Ryzen 3000XT models are just slightly faster than the current Ryzen 3000X models. AMD could make them a little better, so they did.
Bottom line: Ryzen 3000XT is not a serious upgrade over current AMD Ryzen. Wait for the Ryzen 4000 series in the Fall -- for the bigger jump in performance.

Nvidia Overtakes Intel as World’s Most Valuable Chip Maker
Nvidia has overtaken Intel as the world’s most valuable chip maker, at least briefly. Increases in the GPU manufacturers’ market capitalization pushed its stock price to $404 on Wednesday, giving it a market capitalization at $248B, just about Intel’s $246B.
Nvidia stock has shot up over the last few years while Intel moved only slightly.
AMD's stock price has also increased monumentally over the last few years due to the competitiveness of AMD products.

Right Now Is a Terrible Time to Buy a Graphics Card
New GPUs are right around the corner, so try to get by for a couple of more months with what you have.
When should you upgrade your PC's graphics card? The sage advice is to wait until you're no longer happy with your current setup, but there's an important corollary that's often overlooked: Don't spend a lot of money on a new graphics card right before new GPUs are slated to launch. Or you can flip that around: The best time to pick up one of the best graphics cards is right after they launch — at least, once the supply reaches the point where there's no obvious price gouging going on.

AMD and Google team up on Confidential Computing
Google has teamed up with AMD to offer cloud based private, encrypted services that are intended to give users confidence that they are always in control over the confidentiality of their data.
The system is based on Confidential VMs which use the Secure Encrypted Virtualisation (SEV) feature of 2nd Gen AMD EPYC. Encryption keys are generated in hardware, per VM, and not exportable.
AMD Data Centre Ecosystem corporate vice president Raghu Nambiar said that with built-in secure encrypted virtualization, 2 nd Gen AMD EPYC processors provide an innovative hardware-based security feature that helps secure data in a virtualised environment.

MSI Bravo 15 Shows AMD at Its Most Competitive in Years
Our sister site PCMag has given an all-AMD laptop an Editor’s Choice award
[Previously] OEMs refused to put in the work to build competitive AMD systems
Ryzen Mobile has changed that equation and the existing Surface 3 Laptop with an AMD APU was far more optimized for that chip than any previous system AMD has built with a vendor.
The MSI Bravo 15 fields AMD’s Ryzen 4800H (2.9GHz base, 4.2GHz boost) and pairs it with either 8GB or 16GB of RAM. Storage for both US models is 512GB, and the available GPU, in both cases, is a 4GB Radeon RX 5500M. The display is a 1080p panel with AMD FreeSync support and a maximum 120Hz refresh rate.
But the point is being made — AMD is capable of hanging with an Intel + Nvidia combination.

AMD Ryzen 7 4700G Flagship 8 Core Renoir Desktop APU [CPU & GPU] Overclocked To 4.8 GHz Across All Cores - Also Achieves DDR4-4400 & 2200 MHz FCLK (1:1) on B550 Platform
The two key technologies on the Renoir Desktop CPUs would be the updated Zen 2 cores and the Vega graphics architecture, all on a single monolithic die.
Based on leaks, some have been saying that the Ryzen 7 4000 series APUs have CPUs that will outperform their Ryzen 7 3000 CPU series counterparts. Apparently, they will overclock well also. Believable, but not all leaks are accurate.

Semiconductor Heavyweights Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) and AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) to Reap a Windfall From Revival in PC Demand, According to Bank of America
As far as AMD is concerned, Arya noted that the semiconductor held just 18 percent of the PC market in Q1 2020. However, AMD’s fourth-generation Ryzen processors expected in the second half of the year will allow the company to “extend its performance lead”.
In light of this prognostication, Bank of America has maintained its ‘Buy’ rating for the two semiconductors, pegging a target stock price of $70 for Intel and $65 for AMD.
And, AMD was a "couple dollars" a share a few years back. Investors should be very happy.

All rumor/leak information -- so not copying all the speculations into this SimHQ post. But, I would not be surprised if the new higher end Nvidia GPUs are this good.
It's what high end AMD GPUs will be competing with this Fall.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ampere Gaming Graphics Card Allegedly 20% Faster Than GeForce RTX 2080 Ti
Independent test results and pricing will be interesting when these Nvidia GPUs are released.
A 20% gain over the previous generation of cards seems awfully small. Why would anyone bother to upgrade given the astronomical price? I'd love to retire my 1080 Ti for something 2X faster, but it sounds like we're not there yet.

They were comparing an "ordinary" RTX 3080 to the high end RTX 2080TI. Speculation is that the RTX 3080Ti may have 50% or more. But, it is very much speculation.
I'm with you though. A 20% increase in FPS sounds good but is going to be invisible to most folks in most games. I would say the same about an AMD product that only offered 20% -- but, I might buy it for the fun of it

AMD Ryzen 4000G Desktop Chips Could Finally Deliver on the Promise of APUs
The Ryzen 4000G family is AMD’s play for customers who want more CPU horsepower but don’t necessarily need a discrete GPU. The onboard graphics on the Ryzen 4000 offer up to 60 percent more performance per CU and while integrated graphics are never going to be anyone’s idea of fast, there are hundreds of indie and low-weight games that run just fine on these kinds of solutions.
Up until now, every big-core APU AMD has built has asked you to give up a significant amount of potential CPU performance in exchange for faster graphics. With the Ryzen 4000G family, that gap appears to basically be gone.
I've "owed" my Son a very good "office PC" for over a year (meantime I gave him a "decent" one to use). I've been patiently waiting for the highest end Ryzen 4XXXG to become available. Its taken longer than I expected. It may not be much longer now.

AMD confirms Ryzen 7 PRO 4750G [APU] costs 309 USD
The 8-core and 16-thread APU (4750G) featuring 7nm Zen2 cores will cost 309 USD, which is 20 USD less than Ryzen 7 3700X (also 8-core processors but without integrated Vega graphics).
The 6-core/12-thread Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G will cost 209 USD, which is 10 USD more expensive than Ryzen 5 3600 lacking iGPU support. Meanwhile, the cheapest model, Ryzen 3 PRO 4350G is priced at 149 USD.
Do note that the pricing is for both G (65W) and GE series (35W) and only for OEMs and System Integrators. The list does not include the Ryzen 4x00G series (the non-PRO) series [for the public].

The future will bring AMD no 7nm CPU competition for a couple years -- according to Intel.

Intel 7nm Delayed By 6 Months; Company to Take “Pragmatic” Approach in Using Third-Party Fabs
[Intel] announced that their under-development 7nm manufacturing process has suffered a six month delay due to a defect in the process. As a result, the first consumer products aren’t due until at least late 2022, leaving Intel with 10nm as their best in-house manufacturing process for the next couple of years.
Intel 10nm was very late due to manufacturing process defects. So, rather than spend time completely fixing 10nm, Intel moved on to 7nm. They used some of the same defective processes (as 10nm) -- figuring they'd get them fixed along the way to 7nm. It's taking longer than expected.
Intel has fallen slightly behind on CPUs. But, in the long run, I expect Intel to be fully competitive. So, AMD has to "keep their foot on the accelerator" by improving their CPU architectures and pushing towards 5nm, 3nm, etc.

For perspective, rival foundry TSMC [who fabricates AMD CPUs and GPUs] plans to be on the 3nm node in the same time frame as Intel's new schedule for 7nm.
