Andy, a while ago you uploaded an A-10 HUD tape of a long range strafe. The size is 3.55MB, and the radio chatter goes something like <"... long range strafe" "rgr" <firing> "little low, just getting a little low..">. I hope you can identify the tape I am talking about based on this.

I don't have the slightest clue! I never flew LASTE...came too late for me. If you mean 1999. I retired in 1988!

My source does not indicate what version is being displayed.

Thanks Andy, I asked because I was asked the same question on the LOMAC forum after saying that there are differences between the HUD screenshots and the video.

I would not be surprised by minor differences. Even in the jet as I flew it, there were multiple HUD modes...from one mode to the next, the changes were minor and often only reflected the individual display preferences of the pilot.

I can't respond to that discussion. I don't have a current flight manual that shows the various HUD modes, so I'm not certain what a version 6.0 HUD looks like!

However, my source for the film you mention seems to indicate that the HUD is a late model version.

I'm not sure I understand the question in the posts. Are you talking about the reticle width?

If so, there are two basic "widths" as I recall...a LASTE reticle and a HARS reticle (in addition to the standby retice). The LASTE reticle (used with the CCIP mode) is about twice the diamenter of the HARS reticle (conventional/INS mode).

The LASTE reticle is about 1/3 the size of the horizontal distance between the airspeed and altitude ladders/digitals.

I just finished looking at the LOMAC screens again. The HUD displays seem to be simplified examples of the A-10 HUD modes.

The dimensions of the LOMAC HUD symbology seem to be a bit off the RL HUD...but the overall effect is excellent for the purpose of simming.

The LOMAC HUD looks great to me...the fact that the dimensions of the sim HUD are not quite as in RL is not of any significance IMO.

Andy, I mentioned that the pitch ladder appears to be too wide, the A/G reticle in the screenshots looks ok to me. Thanks for your help!
