Here is my personal take on the situation:

Movie theaters will not entirely go away but we are going to see a significant number of movie theater locations close even if the social distancing policies ended tomorrow. The damage is already done. AMC which is the largest movie theater operator reported a loss of over 3 billion during the second quarter of 2020.

Even BEFORE the pandemic, movie theater attendance in North America was already declining as more and more consumers switched to streaming at home. The pandemic has simply accelerated that trend.

Many restaurants that were barely getting by before the pandemic have already closed and many of the ones that have managed to stick around during the pandemic have successfully changed their business model to be mostly a home delivery or pick up service.

Eventually things will recover for the restaurant sector but I think the home delivery/pick up service will continue to show increasing demand.

What can I say, I'm generally skeptical about home delivered & takeaway food. Floppy, soggy fries, "ductile" pizza, and let's not even think about steaks. Sure, there's other food that doesn't suffer that much during transport like Asian noodle/vegetable/chicken bit contraptions with rice but at the end of the day nothing gets better while being driven around in a box. I'm not saying that there is no way how a kitchen can turn a profit even under pandemic conditions, but either we learn to cook better, we accept a loss in quality. As a whole, dining as a business sector is up for hard times. I suppose the middle class of restaurants is going to get squeezed out. This may be less of an issue in the US where, as far as I've been able to observe, the middle ground of restaurants has been thinned out a lot already and it's either fast food in its countless franchise varieties, or upscale and rather pricey places.
Before Covid you'd have a lot more family-run restaurants all over Europe, and I like them. Sure, you can get highly rated and highly priced places over here too. But for paying just 20% more than at Micky Dee's you get 250% of the food quality and 500% atmosphere in the average restaurant, and I'd very much like to keep it that way.

You are absolutely correct on this point. My wife and I have done home delivery quite a bit even before the pandemic and the quality often suffers with certain types of food. I can't speak for Europe but American consumers as a general rule value price and time more than anything else when it comes to eating so that's why I see the home delivery food service increasing in popularity even after the lockdown is over.

McDonalds hiring 18000 workers. I assume with middle and high restaurants failings, the fast food market is getting a boost.

Home Game on Netflix, a short series of weird sports from around the world. Overall it was OK. All the episodes introduce a different sport, a few people that compete in them, but most of them kind of end there.
A few episodes are a bit better at explaining the history, rules, and why they're important in those regions. Those couple of episodes that do that stand out from the rest.

And after watching that series I can say that Catch Fetiche from the Congo has to be the craziest and best version of professional wrestling ever devised.

"The Vast Of Night." Very different, very off-beat Science Fiction. Had my attention from beginning to end. Thoughtful and clever, it shows what can be done with a small budget.

Just got season 2 which premiered in Finland in April and it just premiered today on Netflix for foreign distribution.

Karppi aka Deadwind

Season 1 came out in 2018:

I was so riveted I ended up watching all 12 episodes one after another.

This is very good. American TV need to learn from them instead of putting out the same stupid reality shows and competition shows.

You need to get past the network tv mentality. Streaming and cable in the US offers a crapload of intelligent well-written shows.

I just read the summary on IMDB and it seems like it stole its basic premise from "Twin Peaks".

I seen the entire first season and not once did I think of Twin Peaks.

I don't watch Network TV. I watch select series and documentaries and movies on Amazon and Netflix and National Geographic and Smithsonian Channel.

Yesterday I watched a very interesting and educational 3 part documentary made by National Geographic about Kangaroos.

All those Network primetime weekly network shows, I don't watch any of those comedy series, reality series, stupid competition shows, stupid game shows. Not one.

I know my sisters never miss stuff like Survivor or Masked Singer or some reality bull.

There are also stuff on Cable that was popular that I have never watch one single episode and have no desire to like Game of Thrones. People liked that show because there are ton of naked women in it. That's all I heard from everyone who talk about it when it was on. You GOT to watch Game of Throne! There is so much female nudes in it it's fantastic

Get a life!

Did you see Twin Peaks? Do you remember the events of the pilot episode? If you did then you would know right away what I was talking about.

Er Breaking Bad, Ozark, Stranger Things, Better Call Saul, True Detective, The Americans, Mindhunter, The Outsider?

These are just off the top of my head. At least here in the UK it is generally accepted that the US do some outstanding TV series.

No it doesn't. I am telling the folks who thought Game of Thrones is fantastic because of all the female nudity the show has to get a life!!

I have seen Twin Peaks and the TV series based on it that lasted a few months 3 years ago before it got cancelled.

You’re really missing out on GOT because it is so much more than just naked women. Trust me on this.

Are you high?

I could give a crud about the naked women on GoT, but as a writer myself, I can appreciate the nuanced character development, worldbuilding, and plot layering that the show brought us. GoT is without a doubt one of the top 5 shows of all time, period. And the nudity has nothing to do with that. The show is great not because of fancy special effects, either. The writing through the first four seasons alone place it on this pedestal. Seasons 5 and 6 were iffy bags, and I know there was lots of hatred on how the show ended, but beyond the spotty end seasons, I felt the ending was pretty good. Granted, the ending wasn't George R. Martin's writing(the creator of the novels), and instead was Weiss and Benioffs version, but per canon and developed character traits, was fitting.

Definitely wasn't the nudity, there, man, that drew people to the show.
