Really no preference PM anything except romance crap..Caught some of west world the other day but think I need to start from the beginning on that one Yes, Westworld is a very complex and serialized show so you really have to watch the episodes in order and you can't skip any either. If you do, you can get easily lost as to what is going on. Have you seen Game of Thrones?

Dexter and Game of Thrones will both deliver. Oddly, I sometimes find myself wanting to watch parts of "True Blood" again, despite my disdain for vampires and any of that crap. But the show had great, memorable characters. The plotting and seasons were iffy, however, with kinda every other season sucking(no pun intended), plotwise.
My top 5 shows of all time, for now, in no particular order are:
Dexter Mr. Robot Game of Thrones Twin Peaks Babylon 5
Honorable mention: The Expanse (season 4 was a waste of time) Battlestar Galactica (could almost duke it out between Babylon 5 and Battlestar for the spot, but Battlestar had a dud second half of season 3 with stupid "courtroom" drama) X-Files (almost forgot, but that's older than Babylon)

It's only 2 seasons (22 episodes total).

X-Files (almost forgot, but that's older than Babylon)
Nope! "The Gathering" which was the 2 hour pilot for B5 aired in early 1993. Season 1 of the X-Files debuted in the Fall of 1993. Season 1 of B5 then debuted in early 1994.

First time I saw it was a couple of years ago. I didn't see it either when it originally aired and to be honest, I don't think I even knew about the show at that time. I didn't watch B5 until about 2007 when I rented the dvd's from Netflix. I was immediately hooked and I ended up buying the dvd sets from Amazon later that year.

I suppose if you're in law enforcement or social work, it could have that effect. For everybody else, I think it helps greatly to appreciate the amount of adversity that these people have to deal with, both from the subject matter of the work itself and from the hurdles that bureaucrats and politicians throw at them. I was already weary of crime shows where the murderer confesses all after 40 or 80 minutes years ago, but after watching The Wire I could no longer tolerate them at all because they make it all about puzzle solving when in reality the crime itself is usually simple, but society and people are complex.
For what it's worth, another great aspect that you may not be aware of is that later seasons shift the attention from wiretapping the drug dealers. Season 2 is a case of human trafficking in the harbor (and thus focuses on labor unions), season 3, 4, 5 each deal with a different aspect such as the role of "schools", "politics" , "the press" in the complex web that makes Baltimore a mess that appears impossible to "solve".

Sounds like you may also like "Homicide : Life On The Street", similar in that a cop drama in Baltimore and gritty. Not quite as dark as The Wire but in my opinion better. A lot of characters crossed over and did cameos for The Wire from what I remember. Homicide is one of my favourite shows of all time. Great story arcs. I think it may be hard to get hold of though, at least it was here in UK (only shown late at night when aired and never repeated. May be different in the States or where you are.

Finished up "The Office" again last night. Great show.

Both were created by David Simon, a reporter for the Baltimore Sun. He spent most of his time working for them covering the crime beat and getting to know a lot of people both in the police and on the streets of Baltimore. He wrote a few books about it as well. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Simon
