She should had bought American instead of Korea. Her husband work for Ford and they get discount, she shoulda got a Ford to keep Americans working! Honestly I never heard of this box on wheel. https://www.hyundaiusa.com/us/en/vehicles/konaper Wiki it's assemebled in China and Algeria and Czech Republic, I doubt the quality and worksmanship. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyundai_Kona

A mechanic friend of mine says that Hyundai are very good. He thinks they are the sweet spot for quality and price. He thinks that since 2015, the two Korean companies Hyundai and KIA are the way to go with Hyundai having a slight edge. Says the quality of build is very high. He said that the quality of the build is better than BMW and rivals Porsche.

Kia and Hyundai are well-built cars, a far cry from where they were quality-wise 15-20 years ago.
Last year I bought a new Subaru Outback. Perfect for loading wife, dog and kid plus luggage and heading out, and the AWD makes light work of Norwegian winters. I am very happy with it quality-wise, and it is one of the Asian cars I’ve driven that feels the most German, in terms of interior quality, if you know what I mean.
In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

I worked in automotive, a GM dealership, in the late 80's to late 90's and Hyundai was considered a joke. Maybe one step above a Yugo. They've come a long way.

Gosh. You folks may steer me into buying a Korean car like the Hyundai, Kia and Subaru instead of a Ford F-150. Do they make big pick up trucks with extra passenger seats? Volvo too, really know how to build a sturdy rock solid car. I have two and they are incredible workhorses. Didn't Volvo become part of Ford?

Kia and Hyundai consistently perform well here in the UK with regards to reliability.
EV's are the Devils matchbox.

Really? Korean cars are good? . KIA and Hyundai both sell very well in the US so they are doing something right.

Didn't Volvo become part of Ford?
For a while but not anymore. From Wiki, "Automobile manufacturer Volvo Cars, also based in Gothenburg, was part of AB Volvo until 1999, when it was sold to the Ford Motor Company. Since 2010 it has been owned by the Chinese multinational automotive company Geely Holding Group."

Currently driving a 16 yr old Hyundai coupe (tiburon in US), had it 9 years and it's still solid. Reliable, comfortable, great workhorse.

No trouble with my '15 Elantra. Even starts in the winter without being plugged in at -20C (0F).
Just because wiki says it is manufactured in Country X doesn't mean those are the ones you see here. For the Kona, would say the Chinese ones are for China and SEA. The Czech ones would be for Europe.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Little Toyota Starlet here. Used daily. Made in 1999. Just beginning to rust underneath at the back. Apparently they all do after 20 plus years. I don't think modern Toyotas are as good.

The Subaru pickup from the 1970s was the number one choice of farmers in our county, I think every farmer had one on the farm, permanent 4 wheel drive and a good size pickup bed for the UK, easy to drive like a car, much more comfortable than a Landy and much more economical too. My younger brother had a few Subaru Impreza and I had an '03 WRI STi PPP Impreza, 300+ bhp and went like a scalded cat (made a similar noise too...) My brother's last one was registered as an agricultural vehicle which always tickled me Some Subaru and Izuzu are made in the US at the Subaru of Indiana Plant in Lafayette Indiana https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_of_Indiana_Automotive,_Inc.
