I've been putting off posting this because I'll probably end up looking like an idiot, but... when I upgraded to PE, if I have the parts to the airfield mod activated, I either won't load, or when I open the in-flight map, the mission ends. This seems to be caused by Part 2, since things actually work with that part disabled. Also, of course, everything is fine with all parts disabled. I've redownloaded in case of a bad file, and I'm sure of the right parts in the right order. When it closes, the end of the log file says (I hope it's ok to post this much of it):

2020/06/19 07:28:45 ERROR 58.625000 Facility::Factory airbase_abraydunes_1 BrayDunes/Middle/Frontier Could not be created.
2020/06/19 07:28:45 EXCEPTION MapCallBack: failed to instantiate facility '0x4AACC100' 'airbase_abraydunes_1' 'BrayDunes/Middle/Frontier'

I've also tried manually adding the Bray dunes mod before and after the airfields parts , but no difference. Also, same problem with and without xjouve's global layer and terrain mods.

Please feel free to slap me up side the head with the obvious, stupid solution.

Hi Lofty - you may have seen - i too am running pe with mods through jsgme utility - all for me seems to work fine, mission editor with the consolidated mods ... but if i load the realistic airfields mod and try and hit the m key to see map it ends my mission and sometimes spits out a an error as well

when i unload the mods and fly again, the map is 'open' on screen in first flight

just fyi as i am trying to sort as well

regards, Ron

Lofty;

Please give me a list of all the mods you have active when this issue occurs.

I have tested the Consolidated mod succesfully with the following components active in QC and switching the map on and off with no problem:
WOFF PE 0 UE - Facilities Models by Panama Red
WOFF PE 1 UE - 1917+ Custom Facilities - Full Trees Populated by Panama Red
WOFF PE 2 - Consolidated Periods and CampaignData Mod by RJW
WOFF PE 4a UE - Consolidated Custom Airfields Mod

Lofty, I also need to know the squadron you are flying with and the date and time and airfield.

Best Regards

Hi Robert – when I load those up it works fine from quick mission and from campaign going back-and-forth from the map Dash in my case it is only when I add after all of that the realistic airfield mods that the map kicks me out
Just FYI

That particular problem is related to a conflict in the global layer. The sim is trying to propagate the airfield but cant find it in the global layer.

Can you provide us with more info regarding mission - period (date), region, unit, etc? So we can check relevant global layer file for errors/missing data.

I had some info on hand -
I have crashes with :
-RFC-46, 3 june '17
-RNAS-5, 2 august '17
-10 RNAS, 24 may, '17
-RFC-1, 1 january, '17

but, it works with
-RFC-1, 7 march, '15
-RFC-24, 6 July , '16
-Jasta Boelcke, 1 january '17

also, I noticed that when it does work, the mission starts with the in-flight map displayed. connection?
I took a look at the files in WOFF scenery for the early years vs. 1917, but it looks ok to me. but what do I know?

all testing done in campaign mode, if that matters.

The symptoms you both experienced are typical of the global layer problem.
We just need to isolate which mods you are running and then I can look at the gloval layers for the problem mod for the year you are flying in.

Best Regards

Hi Robert, right now I have it set up with only the airfield parts 0,1,2,3a,3b,and 4. No other mods at all. The dates are as indicated in the list, i.e.3 June 1917. I also just tried it with xjouve's global mod activated, which of course overwrites your part 2, using RNAS-8 on 3 March 1918, based right at Bray Dunes. It wouldn't load, either. huh?

When did you download those mods. Be sure they are the latest.

Robert, they're all the latest. But I think I found a possible culprit - I'm using the 1914 version of part 1 facilities (I guess I'm partial towards the older feeling) but if I change to the 1917 version, then my RFC-46 in june '17 does work. I compared the two infrstructure folders, and indeed, the 1914 does not have airbase_abraydunes_1 nor a airbase_afarm_1 that is in the 1917 folder. I did try to just copy those two files into the 1914 folder, but it wouldn't quite work. So, if I fly in 1917, do I have to load the 1917 mod? are there just a few other files I could copy into the 1914 folder to have it work, even if it really didn't?

In the above statement you stated you are using the 1914 version of the facilities file while trying to fly RFC-46 in June 17th. That is your problem. RFC-46 start date is in 1916. There is no appropriate airfields in the 1914 facility mod. You need to make sure you always choose the correct version of the facilities file to go with your squadrons active dates. When your pilot enters a new year you need to select the appropriate facility file to match that year and period. 1916 covers the jan to may period and 1916+6 covers June to end of year. pay attention to that and you should have no difficulty.

Copying files into the folders will screw you up royally so don't do that. If you know what you copied it then just remove it again, otherwise you may want to remove the mod and download again for a fresh copy.

Hope that helps and if you need any further info just PM me.

Best Regards

Ok I’ve done some testing

Pilot in campaign -
29 RFC out of izel les hameaux
Jan 18 1917

Running latest woff pe version

Jgsme mods enabler loaded up

Effects with tracers
Cons 0 V6.8
Cons 1 1917full trees V1.2
Cons 2 v1.2
Cons 4 v2.3

Map works just fine

Then redownloaded and reinstalled RPA 1.1

Went to fly - in air and hit m key and kicks out to mission end screen

Also tried above with cons 1 1917 red trees v1.3 but same thing

What I did notice when in air before I hit m key ... without rpa loaded game is stutterless w no lag, with rpa mod loaded game sees significant stutters

Cheers Ron

I have just made some testing and found several errors in global_layer_csv file by xjouve , included in his global layer mod v2.1 for period 1917. Remove (disable), pls, this mod and everything should work OK.
List of errors:

Missing comma caused data shift and coords error:
