I wish I still had that dedication (and interest) to play games. I've been playing World of Warships for 9 years and I've noticed my hours getting less and less.

Now I'm addicted to a crossword game on my tablet. I'll hand in my man card soon... sigh

A guy walks into a bar and hears two women speaking in a British accent. He asks, "Are you ladies from England?" One says to him "No, it's Wales, you idiot!" So, then the guy says, "Okay, sorry. So, are you two whales from England?"

I see no issue here. PC gaming is just a hobby like anything else. People lose interest in their hobby and move on to something else all the time.

My 4,000 hours in EU IV is over ten years. Not many games have that sort of longevity. As a strategy game it doesn't ever feel old. A shooter from 2013 will show it's age, but a grand strategy game like EU IV has some immunity to this. And on top of that, it's made by Paradox, who expand their games like crazy with expansions and DLC. So even if you reach the point where you feel it has grown stale, an update comes along to draw you back in. And it's just an amazingly good game.

My top ten all time most played Steam games to show how that 4,000 hours stack up

1. Europa Universalis IV (4,061)
2. Football Manager 2009 (1,609)
3. Elite Dangerous (1,600)
4. Warhammer 2 (1,209)
5. Football Manager 2013 (1,247)
6. GTA 5 (790)
7. Civ 5 (627)
8. Borderlands 2 (601)
9. Fallout 4 (505)
10. Civ 6 (464)

So yeah, EU IV is far and away the leader, but I've sunk some serious time in to a lot of games. And this is just Steam. Falcon 4, for example, would wedge its way in to this top ten if I had tracked the time and maybe even be top. I played a lot of Falcon.

Cool, thanks for posting that. I would have expected to see one of the Borderlands games in there for you too, but I bet they sit just outside your top ten.

My #1 Steam hours played is Team Fortress 2 @ 1609.8 hours.

My #2 is X4: Foundations @ 650.9 hours.

My #3 is No Man's Sky @ 484.9 hours.

My #4 is Bannerlord @ 419.60 hours.

I suppose I am a lightweight. smile

I know for a fact I have 500+ hours in Elite Dangerous(standalone client), who knows how many in DCS, thousands in Falcon 4.0/BMS and likewise a significant amount in Star Citizen.

A pattern emerges on Steam, however. My most played games are either competitive PvP environments with high skill curve, deep gameplay, or open world maximum creativity and choice simulations.

Team Fortress/Quakeworld(who knows how many thousand hours)/StarCraft/Supreme Commander(thousands of hours between Supcom and SC)/Tribes/Mechwarrior/DCS/Elite/Star Citizen make up the bulk of my PvP time. I enjoy the smell of fear from my opponents as I stalk them. smile When I am not on the hunt, I like to fiddle with things in the other games.

I currently only have two games installed that are not on Steam so Steam definitely accounts for the great majority of my gaming time.

No worries, me and my girlfriend have countless of hours on Elder Sign: Omens. It´s basically Eldritch Horror but the dev changed the name for whatever reason. We also have the board game version. Pretty much fans of H.P. Lovecraft, books tabletop games ect.

Still playing and restarting Fallout 4 without finishing it. I'm still looking for the Perfect Play through "for my sensibilities".

I feel like I actually "live in the Fallout world". And, I'm trying to make it a "perfect world" (to my tastes and to some extent).

According to Steam during the last two weeks I have 32.7 hours in-game and 25 hours in the Creation Kit. I only use Mods I've made (dozens at this point).

I'm actually preparing for another restart from the beginning (1620 hours in-game over the years so far -- only a couple of "finishes").

Sapphire Pulse RX7900XTX, 3 monitors = 23P (1080p) + SAMSUNG 32" Odyssey Neo G7 1000R curve (4K/2160p) + 23P (1080p), AMD R9-7950X (ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 420), 64GB RAM@6.0GHz, Gigabyte X670E AORUS MASTER MB, (4x M.2 SSD + 2xSSD + 2xHD) = ~52TB storage, EVGA 1600W PSU, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Full Tower, ASUS RT-AX89X 6000Mbps WiFi router, VKB Gladiator WW2 Stick, Pedals, G.Skill RGB KB, AORUS Thunder M7 Mouse, W11 Pro

Fallout 4 continues. Yet another restart vs the post just above.

1678hrs total playing Fallout 4. Roughly 170hrs total since I started this play through. But, only 26hrs on this Restart.

I'm having fun modding and playing differently than my usual methods.

Photo of Heroine (my wife when she was younger). It shows the "outfit" and "machine gun" I made.

Her outfit has the damage resistance of low end Power Armor -- but, is more fun to look at and play. The machine gun behaves more like a real one. I do not give her the better equipment until she has found the in-game versions that my versions replace. smile

I'm currently doing my third playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3. This game is simply a work of art that will go down as one of the best RPG's ever.

I'm also playing Divinity 2 (also by Larian). Good RPG but I have to admit that the story and characters aren't grabbing me nearly as much as in BG 3.

Still playing Fallout 76 on a daily basis.

For multiplayer, I'm still playing IL-2, DCS, Arma 3, Ready or Not, Zero Hour and Company of Heroes 3.

Another (?) has passed and this is what has been in my rotation.

-- Old World. Humankind was supposed to be the Civ-Killer, a 4X game that finally challenged for supremacy, but it failed to do so. Enter Old World, a game by CIv 4's lead designer who started his own studio. Imagine you mixed three parts Civ and one part Crusader Kings and that's what Old World is. A 4X with dynasties and characters. It takes many of the genre standards and gives them a twist, improving on some things in brilliant and fun ways. Worth a look for any fan of Civ, and less so any fan of Crusader Kings. Focuses on classical antiquity, rather than roll through the ages. Playable nations include the eastern and central Mediterranean powers of the time like Carthage, Persia, Rome, Egypt and the like. On sale at the mo too.

-- Europa Universalis IV. Replayability here is through the roof. Now on 4,200 hours since 2014. Always something new to try. Challenging and engaging. Something about the mix of decisions, planning and choices just engages my brain in a way other games fail to.

-- PGA Tour 2K23. Our online league has a new tournament every week. And we've actually managed to attract a few new players.

-- Automobilista Motorsport Simulator 2. Mostly hotlapping in the Formula Junior at old time tracks lately. It's like a GPL car with a half-size motor. Good stuff.

-- Fallout 76. Still having fun with this in short bursts. Wigean and Panzer play and we run in to one another from time to time.

-- Way of the Hunter. Good, relaxing hunting game that I prefer in some way to Call of the Wild. I'm a whitetail hunter at heart and it is superb in this game.

I'm about 13 of 30 levels in on my second playthrough of Everspace 2. It's challenging enough for me that I had to dial the game down from normal to easy, and finally to very easy to finish the first time and that was actually a play-through of a second start. I got too far behind in my upgrades the first time due to not taking enough side jobs. I'm sticking to normal this time and so far so good. Besides I've learned a few tricks that are keeping me alive in this play-through.

It reminds me a little of the old Freelancer game--only more open world, more variety of armaments, gadgets, ship designs, and mission types.

Prior to that, I played through the PC release of "The Last of Us" It was quite good for a console port with a great story.

Cheers

Playing a lot of Dragon's Dogma 2 lately. Great game, regardless of the controversy. You, the player, are rewarded for exploring, and highly so if you are perceptive and try and reach areas that otherwise seem hopelessly inaccesible... Insomuch as entirely new areas and towns might be revealed that one would otherwise completely miss.

@ Forward Observer: Everspace 2 is great!

Slightly off topic but interested to see if people are going to watch the Fallout TV series? Got great reviews so far and Goggins is always good to watch.
