Assassin's Creed Odyssey is that way for me. I simply cannot stay "into" the game. To much spammy button mashing, quest and map maker hand holding for me. The gameplay is very rigid.

Which makes me sad, because Odyssey is extremely beautiful.

Edit: I also hate to quit. So, I've gotten up in the middle of the night, erased most of the original message, and cancelled my "quit" -- at least, for now. smile

i also dredge valhalla, and i loved origins and odissey.......just wait till you get to valhalla, people say its the best part, to me it was the worst....the gameplay was too gimmick mechanic, and it was such a looooooong part of the story......i want to vikinger ! another game i still havent beat is shadow of tomb raider....every time i pick i play 1h or 2h hours and forget about for 2 3 months. so boring, even though the puzzles are better the story and linear gameplay, just meh, also the whole city hub was such a stupid adition and worthless, also who creative director decided that we cant use the alternative suits in the third and biggest section of the game ? how stupid are you ? they hate tomb raider so much, they patched the secret ending where she FINALLY becomes tomb raider with the dual pistol.......duck them im glad they were fired after enix got sold.

Thanks for the feedback. Interesting to read your comments. thumbsup

Continuing with Valhalla. I'm starting to "get into it" in a positive way.

About 36 hours during the last week -- including a restart. On the current play 29 hours. No deaths yet (but, I cheat to assure I'm not an easy victim to the occasional overpowered Boss).

On line, I read the history of the British Isles during the era of Valhalla. It helped me accept the situation as presented.

After Rome pulled out, many continental European factions invaded -- for their own benefit. Political violence/war was common for a few hundred years -- no group was blameless.

Still, I try to minimize deaths of normal enemy Soldiers who are just doing their job. Killing civilians is off limits (even the game engine says that). Criminals and Evil Factions are to be exterminated on sight. smile

I don't know if anyone else here has tried it but I've had a game for quite a few years from Steam early access called "Examina". For those who like challenging combat you may like this. Truth be told I've been terrible at it but I gave it another whirl recently and have gotten a little farther. What makes it unique is its use of physics. Many absolutely love it when it supposedly "clicks" as it takes a lot of practice and patience and many hate it. You actually use simulated physics to use weight and inertia and so forth among other variables to make your strikes. There are lots of nuanced moves that are challenging to get your head around but lately I have finally had some success with left to right or right to left swings while stepping into the swing. Its tough. There is an arena to practice as well. Saves are limited which many complain about but there is a round about way to manually do it. They introduced some sort of magic recently and there's some sort of dark story going on. You folks who like the Souls games may like this for its challenge though its nothing like those games other than its challenging in its own unique way. It can be very difficult managing a fight while always correcting your camera or at least remembering which directing is which if the fight moves around on you. There's also NPCs that won't engage you if you don't appear to be a threat or hostile which apparently can even have to do with whether or not you are looking directly at them or accidentally bumping into them. I've had NPCs attack that I never saw coming from another room so I'm not sure what is happening there. Perhaps its explained in the story if I can ever get very far. Also apparently later on you can also stack objects to span drop offs to navigate to other areas. There's physics at play so if you're quick or good enough you could technically drag and drop a bucket or chair over an enemy. There's lots of videos showing the game if anyone's interested.

it is not.....it really isnt, i killed a whole town that made the game regen them. you arent allowed to kill 3 in sucession, but if you time it, you can kill whoever. its not like odissey or origins that snap you out.

That may be correct. When civilians are in the room, the screen announces killing them will result in my "death" -- i.e. the signal will be lost. In one attack, after the warning, a couple civilians surrounded by Enemy Soldiers were accidentally killed (maybe not by me -- by Soldiers fighting at my side). Nothing happened.

Also, I note that if I do kill Soldiers in a town, they regenerate by the next time I come there.

I haven't. Too busy playing other games right now but I might get it later on. Do you know if it has Coop or is it just single player?

Single player only.

I've been too busy to play anything lately, but one of these days I'll have to check this one out. It looked good on some of the early footage and the current reviews seem favorable.

Robocop is fun so far, and not nonstop killing. There's some actual police and crime investigation, like lite Police Quest stuff.

I recently started playing "Jedi Survivor". If you are a Star Wars fan I highly recommend it.

I was disappointed Jedi Survivor did not come to PS4. I don't think my PC can run it well and I detest Origin. Fallen Order was really fun. Star Wars + Uncharted formula makes for a good game.

Everything about Jedi Survivor is just as good as Fallen Order except for the frame rate performance. Even with an RTX 3090 I sometimes get a noticeable drop in frame rate. Of course the previous game didn't have ray tracing so that is the huge difference.

I think one of my favorite enemies to fight in Fallen Order were those black steel looking robots. I thought they were pretty cool looking.

Another month has gone and this is what has been in my rotation

-- PGA Tour 2K21/23 makes an appearance here for it's 25th straight month (or something).

-- Fallout 76. Just keeps calling me back in. No level cap and I go great together.

-- Fallout 4. Just dabbling in it again. Struggling to conjure objectives. 500+ hours and I've nearly done it all. But FO4 Survival mode is so well suited to me that I keep returning.

-- F1 22/23. Been hotlapping and career mode a bit, and then saw F1 23 had gone on sale so I've swapped over to the new title, uninstalling 22 to make room. Just as good as 22, but not all that different either.

-- Forza Horizon 5 -- Recently snapped up most of the DLC and I have a ton of fun with this game. This one is closing in on 500 hours. In sixteen years on Steam I have maybe ten games to hit that number. Only my very favorites will come close. Says a lot about the hooks in FH5 that it keeps me engaged for so long. It would be great if there were more here who played so I could add you as time trial ghosts.

No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

Does no one else do combat sims anymore?

I'm one to talk though... haven't fired up IL2 in 2+ months.

Fired up DCS this past Saturday for the first time in a month+, launched off Harry S Truman in F-18, tanked off an S-3 (very rusty, many disconnects) and trapped back aboard. Once.

I have just reinstalled Silent Hunter 4, modding with Fall of the Rising Sun when I have a chance. Then I can start patrolling!

I fly IL-2 about twice a week and DCS once a week with my online squadron from another website.

I've been racing F1 2023 with a couple of friends on Sunday afternoons. Let me know if you are interested in joining us sometime! Unfortunately the League Racing mode doesn't support AI cars so we've just been doing individual grand prix races.

I've started playing a game I initially added to my Steam wish list on 19/07/2021. It's called 'The Invincible' which I believe is based on a Polish Sci-fi novel by Stanisław Lem.

I've never read the book so I can't compare that to the game but it is apparently a different story set in that universe. It's a story-driven adventure (with no FPS action) similar to Firewatch.

I started it last night at 10.00 pm and had to force myself to bed at 2.00 am. I can't remember the last game that had that effect on me (probably E:D).

I think it has replay value because you have to make some major decisions along the way that I believe has a bearing on the end story. I think I may well try that out as it's not a long game, some are saying 9 hours but I guess it depends on how much you do in the game. I no longer enjoy (or play) first person shooters so this is right up my alley.

I've said it before but Gunner Heat PC! is amazing if you are a tankie fan. The team are always putting out updates.
