Played some Star Citizen over the weekend, after a long while away. When the game works, the experience is vastly more immersive than Starfield could ever hope to be. Graphically, the game is still tops, as well.

I refused to spend any more money, however, until Squadron 42 is released.

Starfield is not a space sim like Star Citizen. You really just need to think of it as a Fallout game set in space and on different planets. You are comparing apples to oranges.

I cannot accept that analogy.

They both have:

a) space ships
b) interplanetary travel
c) planetary exploration
d) interactions and adventures throughout the 'verse

Starfield is simply a failed attempt at the genre, designed by someone who is patently unfit to deliver on this scale. Todd Howard is great at medieval, but Starfield is incompetent when it comes to space. Mass Effect 1 is way better than Starfield, and that also has travel/loading screens. But we have moved far past that, since then.

If Star Citizen were to ever "release" (I have exceptionally strong doubts), I believe many will be stunned as to what is possible. Most "Bethesda" gamers are simply unaware of the possibilities out there, that exist now.

The journey is important when space is involved. That whole process between worlds--that defines the science part of the fiction. Starfield conveniently skips most of that part with loading screens, and instead slathers on gunplay and wokeness in place--and that's just not good enough.

I'm looking forward to the next Elder Scrolls game, however. Bethesda style works quite well for that.

Enjoying the new Forza Motorsport title at the moment. Much to my surprise to be honest. wink

Tried it on my xBox first but had to give up because my wheel setup didn´t work anymore with it. So I switched to the PC version and after some tweaks it is running well (~80 fps) on my older system (i10700k/RTX2070s) with most settings on high.
Driving feels excellent with a wheel so far. Sure, the ingame settings needed some time to setup correctly for my old Logitech G29 but the result was well worth the effort.

The new ranked multiplay system is a very nice addition. The base is already excellent and I´m sure it will only get better with time.

Time is the only luxury.

Finished Witcher 3 version 4.04.

PanzerMeyer asked me to mention which ending I got. I don't know what endings were possible. I tried to play the "good guy".

A short description of how things ended up:

At the end, virtually all the truly bad guys and gals had died. The Wild Hunt was exterminated. Geralt allowed some folks with good/bad aspects to live.

Yennefer and Geralt professed their love and went away together -- to enjoy life.

Cirilla saved the Worlds from freezing and became a Witcher. She did not go back to her Father -- she played dead for him.

In the end scenes, Avallac'h lived -- a deliberate choice.

Skellige lived in peace, ruled by Queen Cerys.

Emhyr var Emreis seemed to die in a "wrapup scene" (not by Geralt's hand).

Congrats on finishing Witcher 3. Now you have the two DLC's to do!

Thanks!

I'm all "Witchered out" -- 376 total Witcher 3 hours indicated (includes restarts).

I'm deciding on what's next. I'll start some things and eventually settle on one.

I await Starfield and Baldur's Gate 3 developers to finish the games. I assume next year.

Cyberpunk 2077 is now quite possible.

First try is to finish "Assasin's Creed Valhalla". I have 35 hours in it as of 2022. I may restart.

I was not excited about it when I played. My Female Character (a good gal) is not "totally independent". The game forces some "questionable" (to me) behavior.

Baldur's Gate 3 is very much a polished game now. I have about 180 hours in the game and I can tell you that it's in a very stable and polished state.

Almost 2 years since last play-save. Going with a Clean Start on Valhalla. Outcome TBD.

I died about 12 times in the first couple hours of the game (my rule is to restart a game after 2 total deaths -- in most cases).

I felt the game "cheated" (really). So, I decided to ignore the fact I died more than twice and played on to 6 hours.

But, I couldn't live with that decision. So, I did a clean restart. Since I knew how the game was going to "game me", I was prepared to "game the game".

Got through the tough part. No deaths yet. On I go. I won't be updating regularly biggrin

here is a tip.....you cant game the game, im an avid game the game gamer myself, and the game cheats you A LOT, in insta death and conecting blows even when the enemy is far away. this happened in odissey sometimes but here the AI is not even pretending to hide it. it happens always. you are slashing a guy and sudenly he gives you a kill animation, or guy with habard is swinging not close enough to connect but you get magnitized to it. so just cheap shot them or find a spear early on. they cant hit you if you poke them first.

Just finished the Phantom Liberty DLC for Cyberpunk. No spoilers of course but that ending was quite poignant to say the least.

Since ~18 months I play some daily Genshin Impact, usually some 15mins daily chores, peaking usually with bi-weekly content updates and some major updates and events every six or seven weeks.

Apart from that it's some World of Tanks now and then, and usually a flight or two in MSFS2020.

And as Skyrim is still strong in this thread,

Fus Ro Dah!

Steam comments on this one are really good. I'll have to give it a go.

Yeah, the main story line and just overall writing behind the DLC is first rate. The character voiced by Idris Elba is really interesting IMHO.

After less than 30 hours, I quit Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Bad game for my preferences. Other folks may love it -- to each his/her own.

I really liked Origins and Odyssey -- a couple of the best ever for me. But, Valhalla was decidedly different (as some on-line articles noted).

Edit: I also hate to quit. So, I've gotten up in the middle of the night, erased most of the original message, and cancelled my "quit" -- at least, for now. smile

Nothing at all to feel bad about! I've bought a couple of games in the past that I thought would be right up my alley but I just couldn't get into them. They just didn't "do it" for me so I quit after putting a few hours into each. The two most recent examples are Steel Division II and Kingdom Come Deliverance.
