Thanks to rereading Red Storm Rising, I've dusted off Cold Waters and found it's a good thing I'm not the skipper of a sub.
In the thick of things I don't know how many times the last few days I didn't realize what interface is up and accidentally blew the emergency tanks instead of hitting the plot course button. Either the UI is terrible or my eyes....probably a combination of both. After a couple days of one disaster or another I finally completed a week long patrol with 2.6 missions completed and made it back to base.

WH3 Immortal Empires. Not much yet. I feel like I should fire up WH2 and fight a few battles there for a better comparison. I don't seem to like the battles nearly as much and just auto resolve 99% of them in WH3.

I'm in a Cold War mood, I might give Regiments a try.

In an effort to keep up with events in the real world, I am flying janes F15 over Ukraine from nato bases in Poland and Romania, and against PLAAF air bases and naval facilities at Qingdao and Dalian on mainland China from Kushan AB in South Korea.

I am also flying janes F18 against China in defense of Taiwan from carriers in the East China Sea and the Yellow Sea, and against Russian forces in Ukraine from a carrier in the Black Sea.

Good thing I retired early because all that keeps me pretty busy!

Finished AC Origins: Just finished the Main Line and a bit more in AC Origins -- for the first time (had multiple starts but no finishes). I liked it a lot. Previously, I had simply not played far enough into the story to enjoy it.

Playing AC Odyssey: Now I'm replaying AC Odyssey. I had already finished the main story in AC Odyssey before this restart. AC Odyssey is one of my all time favorite RPG.

Target AC Valhalla: The plan is to finish AC Odyssey to the point where it melds with AC Valhalla -- then continue with AC Valhalla (started but never finished). The ACV story has defects for my tastes -- we'll see if that changes with more play time.

Having quite a bit of fun with Grid Legends. I've put in 9 hours this week, which is way above my average gaming time. Arcade racing, but not as bad as Forza Horizon 5. The AI is quite good. I like the nemesis system, drivers will stay angry with you for multiple races, and try and spin you out. I also like the random crashes and spinouts that occur with the AI.

Just got to character level 200 in Elden Ring but have yet to defeat Maliketh the Black Blade so I can advance to the final stage of the game.

Do you go for a 100% run with your first character?

Started playing again trying to finish the game finally and just arrived in the Consecrated Snowfield area after killing the Fire Giant. Those snowstorms are a pain... wink

Heh, I thought the Fire Giant was a super tough boss until I encountered Maliketh. Ugh.

Oh and yes, I’m going for a 100% run. I’m a completionist to the extreme.

How is it? Anything like Prey? Immersive sim? Or just a roguelike?

I started playing Outer Worlds a week ago and it is fairly interesting. Already I have made some world altering decisions which have been amusing, such as giving Spacer's Choice the shaft.

Another month gone by, and no change to my status. Just two games played over that span, Red Dead Redemption 2 and F1 22. Not a bad bunch really smile

No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

Temporary detour: Sudoku.

Never played it. Every adult in the family does play it -- regularly. So, I'm giving it a shot.

I am NOT looking up "approaches and solutions". The idea is to "solve it myself using my method". My method is "under development". We'll see.

Still playing Elden Ring but I finally made it to Lyendell Ashen Capital so I'm in the final phase of this brilliant game.

I think its pretty cool you've near beaten the game Panzer with a mouse and keyboard. I still use m&k for a lot of games but I think those souls games are designed around a controller. I can't handle games like those but do you find it troublesome for timing and its high difficulty using the mouse and keyboard for that game?

I recently started Shadow of the Colossus remake on the PS4. They did a great job with the texture work on that. The camera system, though not as bad as the originals if memory serves, still likes to fight you a bit which I find unnecessarily stress or tension inducing. I only ever played part of the PS3 remake and never got past four or so colossi so I'll see how it goes.

I'm also still easing my way through my second play through of Alien Isolation. I played it back on release starting on PS4 then going over to the PC version. Its a great game and its fun to be playing it again. I'm using the Alias Isolation mod which nearly eliminates the game's bad jaggies and it has no discernable performance cost which is cool. After all these years I'm being reminded of some of the bugs the game has such as sound glitches and NPCs that can become broken in certain areas. That being said its still a great game though I am finding myself having a hard time playing it again. I think the older I get the less I'm able to tolerate games or anything for that matter that are too scary or too violent.

I'm also still plugging away at Hidden and Dangerous 2 Sabre Squadron having gotten into the missions after the first one that I've never seen before. One of my favorite game series without question.

You are absolutely right that Elden Ring is really geared towards using a controller. I also ran into the same situation when i played Jedi: Fallen Order. In both games I died more than I should have since I was using a mouse and keyboard but I prefer that over having to get used to using a controller. It's just not comfortable for me.

I will be replaying this as well within the next month or so. Sure, the tension and dread won't be as severe since I now know what to expect but the game is still worthy of a replay due to its brilliant design and story.

Be wary of that ! Every time I depend on my brain it lets me down.

Playing Supreme Commander online versus other humans is a great mental workout.
